:UZB wins the first para swimming gold medal.

They’re having to race under the “factoring/points” format, which means he won the race despite not winning it outright.

Ah, so no replay then :(

Hopefully I’ll be able to catch a few events live at some point.

You need to type some Turkish in it "İslami Dayanışma Oyunları canli" (ISG live)

I saw the swimming event on Youtube, but no timings and names whatsoever

It's really hard to follow this competition with worst ever website, :wall:the TV coverage is terrible as well.

I was watching 100m heats today and our guy Taftian run his heat by 9.88 !! at first I was laughing no way it can be correct, but it turned out the correct result :hyper: first Iranian ever beating 10 seconds mark but then we were informed that it won't be counted because of the wind. which was 5.1 m/s !! I wonder how much such windy situation can help?! would he still run under 10 seconds without wind's help ?

having Para-sports is a very bad idea, they can be demonstration events at best. we have only Turkish swimmers in some events in women's para-swimming.

:BAR Obadele Thompson run 9.69 with +5.0 wind when WR was 9.85. I presume that the Iranian guy would run just a shade over 10 secs in legal wind.

that makes sense, his PB (which is also the NR) is 10.03. it was unbelievable breaking PB by 0.15 seconds in heats (where he didn't even push himself 100%) but that result alone made some people excited here, like "wow all of a sudden we have a world level 100m runner" :d  they will learn the truth when he runs the semifinal tomorrow :)

Just realized we are sending table tennis players. The last updates on fighting factions within the federation were not positive, they haven't found a way to settle the dispute and Indonesian NOC decided not to send any table tennis players for SEA Games 2021 (and other events) until the dispute is over.

no, 9.88 with 5.1 m/s favourable wind can't be "translated" in a sub-10 legally wind assisted time...

it's accepted by the scientists community that you need at least a 1 m/s wind to be effective, then a 2 m/s wind gives about 10/100 advantage to men and 12/100 to women...

so, a 5 m/s is about 25/100 advantage over the "neutral" performance...

we can say Taftian's run would have been slightly over 10 seconds dead with legal 2 m/s wind and between 10.12/10.15 with no wind at all...

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
