Is it going to be 3rd time lucky for Austria? They already lost decisive bouts in both men's epee and men's sabre today!

tomorrow's events will feature the Women's Epee (Heidemann, GER + Samuelsson, SWE + maybe Geroudet, SUI are the favourites for the only available spot), the Women's Sabre (Mikina, AZE is the great favourite, but she has to not underestimate Pascu, ROU + Navarro, ESP and Limbach, GER) and the Men's Foil (the competition is very open between the top 6 of the ranking among the starters in my opinion...almost unpredictable who's gonna get the qualifying spot, even though I support Martino Minuto, who's still a 100% Italian guy despite starting for Turkey in the Fencing tournaments)...

well, in the previous 2 events they started as outsiders...on paper this time Wohlgemuth should come up as the winning side (even though Calugareanu is a quite promising youngster and has had international success in the youth categories in the past few years)...

WTF, Mondt one match away from a theoretical place in Rio :yikes:

Theoretical though, because no way she will actually qualify according to Dutch standards :(

She's about 300 places too low on the world ranking for that.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • I don't think he'll mind too much
    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
