Kerber-Keys to decide who is second semifinalist from the group. I'd like to see Cibulkova in semis, much better showing than Keys so far

As an Halep fan, I'll have to cheer against Cibulkova this time :p

However, if Dominika plays like she played her first match, it will be really tough for Simona....

Hm, Cibulkova already beat Halep 2-0. Simona has no chances to advance to semifinal

Sveta tops the white group no matter what, so we already have one semifinal pair, Kuznetsova vs. Cibulkova.

Radwanska and Pliskova will determine the second semifinalist in direct clash. Should be interesting, but given how slow is the surface and how much Pliškova depends on serve and previous H2H, I'd say Aga should win this one. But one can never be sure with WTA these days :d

We have semifinals:

Kerber vs. Radwanska

Kuznetsova vs. Cibulkova

I think Cibulkova can win her match. She already beat Sveta few weeks ago and fatigue can really cost Sveta this time.

Kerber and Aga... well, curious one, Angie showed more so far. I'd bet on Angie :d

Abigail Tere-Apisah from :PNG is into Bendigo ITF $50,000 semifinal! As a qualifier, she beat Yuki Christina Chiang (USA, qualifier) in first round and then surprised third seed Israeli Julia Glushko world #167, and just two years ago ranked #79, in three sets. She backed up this win with a win over young Australian Naiktha Bains. She is playing top seed, Japanese Risa Ozaki, for the place in the final. With this result Papuan girl is expected to enter top 450 on the WTA list! :)

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
