Debut for the new Futsal UEFA competition: Women's Futsal Euro; with 23 nations participants.

 

Begun with a prelimiary round: 3 groups (10 nations), and the winners progress to the main round:

Group A: Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Northern Ireland
Group B: Slovakia, Finland, Lithuania

Group C: Belarus, Moldova, Armenia

 

Other 13 nations receive a bye, and will play the main round in September:

Group 1: Spain, Italy, Romania, Poland

Group 2: Russia, Slovenia, Croatia , Winner preliminary round Group A

Group 3: Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Hungary, Winner preliminary round Group C

Group 4: Portugal, Serbia, Czech Republic, Winner preliminary round Group B

Brazil defeated Argentina at the finals of the 2017-18 Liga Sudamericana de Futsal, held at the Polideportivo Sol de América in Asunción, Paraguay.

 

They won one senior match each, but Brazil won both under-19 matches.

The UEFA women's futsal Euro have the first semifinalist Portugal :POR  :yes Two wins (Cze 12-0 and Finland3-1) was enough for secured the first place the group D and become the first qualify for February Finals

Before the day three of Main Round (September 15th) situation of other groups are:

  • Group A: Spain and Italy both at 6 points, direct clash Saturday
  • Group B: Croatia 6pts and Russia 4 pts, direct clash Saturday
  • Group C: the most uncertain, with Hungary and Ukraine at 4pts, and Belarus 3pts (matches BLR vs HUN and UKR vs KAZ)

The new UEFA  tournament to be held every two years with a four-team knockout finals

That will be held in mid-February 2019, to be hosted by one of the four qualifiers, picked on 27 September by the UEFA Executive Committee.

  • UEFA Futsal Champions League

Inter FS :ESP  , Barça :ESP, Sporting CP :PORand Kairat  :KAZhave reached April's finals after topping elite round groups.

 

Five time winner Inter FS (the holder, last two in-a-row), with two time champions Barça and two-time winners Kairat, are the winners of six trophies in last seven editions; Sporting Cp is the only finalist the never won the trophy, but have reached three finals, losing the last two to Inter.

December 3rd will be knew the hosts for finals on April 2019.

 

 

  • The first UEFA Women's Futsal EURO finals draw will be at  Valbom, Portugal from 13:30CET on Sunday 9 December.

In the finals draw, the ties for the semifinals (15 February) will be set.

Contenders: Portugal (hosts), Russia, Spain, Ukraine

Finals venue: Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar, Porto

 

  • Other draw on  December 12th will be for the Futsal World Cup 2020/UEFA qualifying  Preliminary round  (29 January–3 February 2019)

 

  • Already made the draw for the new tournament U19 Futsal EURO, the road to Latvia 2019, will begin in January 2019 with eight entered in the Preliminary round:

Group A: Montenegro, Greece, Lithuania (hosts), Andorra

Group B: Sweden, Kosovo, Cyprus, San Marino (hosts)

 

Other 26 nations are already draw in seven groups (main round). Hosts Latvia received a bye to the finals

UEFA Women's Futsal EURO title will be assigned Sunday and will be a challenge between Portugal and Spain

In the Semifinals played in Porto, the hosts won 5-1 against Ukraina and Spain won 5-0 over Russia

Russia will face Ukraine for bronze on Sunday

 

This is the first UEFA tournaments of Futsal for Women.

Futsal Chapions League semifinals (Friday): Sporting CP :POR  knocked out holders Inter FS :ESP5-3 and hosts Kairat Almaty :KAZbeat Barcelona 5-2 

 

  • Sporting are into their third straight final (all lost), and fourth overall; Kairat are in Final for the third time, and won their two finals played (2013 & 2015)
  • Sporting CP have ended Inter FS's two-year reign and Inter FS record 19 match winning run ends too.
  • The semifinal Kairat- Barcelona played at Almaty Arena in front of a crowd of 12,090, is the new competition-record.

    • For me 20 medals will be good. And if more there are? Super. However, I prefer not to get my hopes up too much, so as not to be disappointed later.
    • If you're still taking suggestions, I tought the following:   Team Madison format.   17 teams of 2 "riders", randomly drawn. Teams can be named for famous "endurance" track cyclists. 4 intermediate "sprints", one after a voting block, in which the top 8 teams will score according to this formula: (10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1). The order in which team score for a sprint are determined by the total number of "medals" won by both members of the team during the block. Ranking will be sorted according to the number of gold medals, then silver, then bronze. If there's two or more teams with same number of points, the medals of best individual performer of each team will be considered to break the tie. If the tie remains, then team's total points during the block will be used to break it. If the team fails to receive a single medal during each block, it will be considered to "lose lap" and 20 points will be substracted from their score. If the team fails to score at least 1 point during each block, it will be an automatic DNF for the team. If both members of the team get a medal from a single jury, it will be considered to "gain lap" and 20 points will be added to their score. A team can only win an additional lap per voting block. After the 4 intermediate, a "final" sprint will be recorded, in which points will be doubled (20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 & 2). Ranking for the final sprint will take into account the total medals won during the event.   What do you think?
    • I don't medal pick, per se... I assign probabilities/expected-values and total them up. So I don't have a gold medal estimate... but if you want one, divide those numbers by three and you'll be pretty close!   I imagine Norway, Italy and Netherlands and maybe Canada will probably skew a bit higher on golds, and US, Germany, and Sweden will skew a little lower... so maybe: Norway - 14 US - 11 Germany - 11 Italy - 11 Canada - 10 Austria - 8 Netherlands - 8 Japan - 7 Sweden - 6 France.- 6   I was surprised seeing Italy come in that high, I was figuring 22-23, but I guess they've been do well on the World Cups. 
    • If you were to predict top- 10 for the number of gold medals, what would it look like?     For me, as an Italian, any result for Italy: +20 medals would be OK (if that will include 6-7 gold medals). The trauma of Turin 2006 is too great
    • Doesn't really help that two of the strongest countries in that particular sport are banned from the team event for well known reasons.
