Carlijn Achtereekte, Olympic Champion 3.000m in 2018, has made a switch to cycling.

She transferred internally from the Jumbo Visma speed skating team to the Jumbo Visma cycling team. Her first big competition will most likely be the national championships on the road next month.

The Canadian National Championships are being contested this weekend in Quebec City.

Some impressive results already with Laurent Dubreuil winning the 500m in 34,37 seconds, faster than any time skated in Heerenveen last season and would have been enough for silver at the Olympics. And it's only mid-October :yikes:

Isabelle Weidemann won the 3.000m in 4:00,20 which is also an impressive time from her at this point in the season. Ted-Jan Bloemen won the 5.000m with strong competition from Belchos, Fish and Howe in 6:16,16. The women's 500m was less impressive with Caroline Hiller winning in 38,42.

And a casual 6:48,58 from Isabelle Weidemann on the women's 5.000m mid October, while Dubreuil started the season with a 1.07,94 on the men's 1.000m. :d

Ivanie Blondin won the women's 1.000m and 1.500m in solid but not very impressive times (1.15,83 and 1.55,50).

Ted-Jan Bloemen won the men's 10.000m in a very good 12.51,77, while Connor Howe won the men's 1.500m in 1.44,77.
