Meanwhile today we will pass the new bridge in Genua, which will undoubtedly be extensively shown. I hope this will be brought as a sort of monument, but somehow I feel like it will mostly be brought as a way to show their 'awesome new bridge'...(which wouldn't have needed to be there in the first place if the people responsible had done their work...)

Caleb Ewan is done with the Giro this year, he won't start today, sort of as expected. Very curious about today's stage, it seems to have the potential for a very fun last 50k or so.

Cynics might say :mumble: that he - or really, his team - is looking to leave the Giro early so that he can do the full Tour de France, of course, now that he is one of the hottest properties in global cycling.  I couldn't possibly comment.

Maybe he got rerouted to TdF by the Eritrean propaganda machine. :p

Right, we're into the last days. Yesterday the Giro organizers got what they presumably hoped for, a fairly boring mountain stage. At least that's the only explanation for having a relatively easy mountain stage right before a monster mountain stage, so you know not much will happen.

Same thing today, sort of. The hardest part is the last climb and the hardest part of the last climb is the last part of the climb, so we can assume the organizers are hoping for 165 kilometers of waiting and 3km of action at the end. Let's see if they'll get what they want again :p

Not much has happened overall in this Giro yet in terms of the GC fight, it's more of an elimination race where three guys are left who are too equally good to really make anything happen.

Agree, it has been a borefest this last week for everyone except Koen Bouwman’s family & friends.

At least it seems like the organizers are sort of taking the blame for the last turn troubles yesterday. That was mostly Mauro Schmid's fault for positioning himself rather...poorly, but the turn shouldn't have been that way in the first place. Apparently the UCI has some well-paid official walking around to accept the courses, which must be the most amazing job: you get brought to all kinds of beautiful places, undoubtedly in some of the best hotels the area has to offer with all luxury you want, then you spend five minutes walking your fat belly around the finish area, you say "Yeah all good" and when it goes wrong, just blame the riders :d

And that's both the Passo San Pellegrino and the Passo Pordoi done, nothing has happened yet, at all. So far the expectations are coming true.

Carapaz & Hindley both confident they can take it on the wheel throw at the line.
