Parmesan at #1

That's the worst cheese imo

I'm glad nobody is writing it 'Parmesian', which is what I often seem to hear in TV shows for some weird reason :p

This joins @heywoodu's opinion on olives in the "bad food takes" category :p

It's definitely not my favorite cheese by any means, but pasta wouldn't be pasta without a bit of parmesan.

Considering there are a billion kinds of cheese, I have no idea exactly how to translate everything, but I believe what I put on my pasta is a kind of Gouda cheese (the 'young' one, not the 'old' cheese, yuck). Coincidentally we recently had parmesan cheese on pasta, but that was rather disappointing, it tasted so....meh.

Do you actually use parmesan though? Or that kind of Kraft-from-a-bottle stuff? :p

it might be weird when said by someone who doesn't eat any sort of cheese for any reason, but I'm pretty sure nobody from the American Continent here has ever tried the true Parmigiano Reggiano (or Grana Padano), unless you've been in Italy ;)

sacrilege!

except for those 3/4 recipes actually created with cheese as one of the main ingredients, putting any cheese (and above all Parmigiano or even more Pecorino) on a pasta dish, it just ruins that dish, changing its taste

and those who put cheese on seafood recipes, should be sentenced to Dante's Hell punishments! :bones:

To be honest, making a change to an Italian recipe you're going to make, serve and eat yourself, mentioning it to Italians and see them get crazy mad because that's not how their grandmother's grandma used to make it, is one of the most fun things in the world of food :p

Something I often think of when breaking a couple of hands of spaghetti in half before putting them in the boiling water.

There's really nobody (okay, maybe except that one Malaysian comedian who thinks not owning a rice cooker is a crime against humanity) that is more needlessly pretentious about their cuisine than the Italians. Even the French have less of a stick up their arses.

IDGAF what anyone in Europe thinks, Napolitan spaghetti is good, and it's even better seasoned with Italian tears.

The purists are really missing out on that one. Ham and pineapple is a classic combination for a reason.
