But here comes Poll #15 already.

These are olympic champions in certain events.

Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time.

Who would have won gold?

Be aware that according to our rules Fiji has secured a gold in men's rugby sevens as an one and only olympics champions in this event.

So in this poll we choose who will get silver and bronze in our imaginary olympics, behind Fiji.

And we choose from two silver medalists in 2016 and 2020: GBR and NZL.

As mentioned earlier, tennis imaginary tournament is played on HARD COURTS.

Each event has an option "I WILL PASS THIS EVENT" for those who want to take part in the polls but don't want to vote in every event.

the Athletics, women's High Jump poll is the only one of this series that mekes me think...

but in the end, all the medals and a world record still standing since 1987 led me to vote for :BUL Stefka Kostadinova, even if this discipline has had through the years a lot of exceptional players...

Athletics, women's 20km Race Walking is a no brainer, since :ITA Antonella Palmisano is the first legitimate Olympic Champion after a series of doping cheaters and / or parvenu winning only because of inept if not corrupted judges...

Taekwondo, women's +67kg class...also in this case I have no doubt that :SRB Milica Mandic is the best player in the game, through the last 20 years at least...

the other 2 polls, I'm passing because one (Tennis, mixed doubles) is a farce with no true top players participating and therefore shouldn't even be an Olympic event, meanwhile the other (Rugby 7's) is still too young to have true champions in different ages and also because I think that it shouldn't be an Olympic discipline, by virtue of being basically the third-tier level of rugby, the last chance for those who can't shine in 15 or 13's...

Results of Poll #15:

ATHLETICS - Women's High Jump

1. Stefka Kostadinova BUL

2. Ulrike Meyfarth GER

3. Mariya Lasitskene RUS

Here was a tie for 2nd place

1. Antonella Palmisano ITA

2. Liu Hong CHN

3. Wang Liping CHN

TAEKWONDO - Women's Heavyweight (+67kg)

1. Milica Mandic SRB

2. Maria del Rosario Espinoza MEX

3. Chen Zhong CHN

3. Zheng Shuyin CHN*

*2 athletes from one NOC would not be allowed to participate in this event in real olympics these days

TENNIS - Mixed Doubles

1. Victoria Azarenka, Max Mirnyi BLR

2. Suzanne Lenglen, Max Decugis FRA

3. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Andrey Rublev RUS

RUGBY SEVENS - Men's Tournament

1. Fiji

2. New Zealand

3. Great Britain

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
