I don't like though, that we now have 3 days of swimming and athletics colliding... It was usually only 1 day, where swimming was only an hour with the last few finals. They are even at the same time in both sessions..

Yes, that's awful. I totally agree with you. My 2 favourite sports...

Uhm. Too many events at the same time, 90% of finals in the afternoon. Not so good.

I totally agree here. One can skip the entire day's events and make arrangements for multiple viewing options from 7 - 11pm Paris Time and it would be like entire games are covered. Nonetheless concentrating on too many things doesn't make for a nice experience

One thing I notice just now is the equestrian schedule. I have a hard time seeing eventing in 4 straight days with those sessions? Jumping is clearly last again (individual on day 8 and team on day 11) considering the 2½ hour sessions.

What are your thoughts, @dcro?

I think the first three days are supposed to be eventing. Looks like they will be going all in with the "sprint dressage".

They cut it down to one and half days in Tokyo. Looks to be one day in Paris.

If anyone is interested, here's a comparison between the 2020 and 2024 Olympics (for sailing/surfing I went with their original schedule). The colored squares was the 2020 schedule (blue = qualification only days, gold = medal days) while squares with a letter (Q for qualification only days, F for finals days) is the 2024 schedule.

Most sports either stayed the same or shifted one day, but there are some major changes like taekwondo shifting from the first four days to days 11-15.

Sorry if it was mentioned before, but the women's marathon will be on the final day of competition instead of the men's marathon

What a stupid decision again by the IOC

  • 2 weeks later...

I am trying to prepare a kind of schedule sheet for Paris 2024. I am certainly not an expert on Excel but I'll try my best.

So far - you will find attached here early draft from Wed 24.7 (day -2) to Sat 27.7 (day 1).

This kind of schedule was extremely useful for me during Tokyo but I started to prepare it much too late and I had it done properly only for a few first days, I have posted it here then.

I will try to prepare the next days soon and when the first version is ready, I will try to update it frequently, as soon as we get more info on events scheduling.

Anyone knows when the detailed Paris 2024 schedule - event by event, session by session - may be published? I don’t remember how it was for previous Games.

Tokyo's was released in April, 2019.

    • I won't write about injuries (Fede) and non-sporting matters (Colturi), but the fact is that Italy has its worst start to the season in alpine skiing in over 10 years... Just one victory, and podiums- if any, they're mostly 3 places. We're also not leading in any of the season standings, no in the women's or men's categories. This isn't be it should be in an Olympic year in your country, where you're having your worst season in many years.
    • Plaisier blew 3 match darts and Ratajski comes back to win!
    • Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the miss of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
    • It sad to see this season, as I remember, that Fede last year was winning everywhere, when she competed and finished and now we haven't even managed a single podium in the giant slalom, and it'll probably stay that way until the end of the season. Without Fede and Bassino, unfortunately, we're out of good cards in this event. For me Goggia should probably skip the giant slalom at all, becouse she has no chance of a podium and she risks further injuries. If even Goggia finish 8th or 10th? What difference does it make? If she couldn't get a podium finish today with so many DNFs at the top skiers, she probably never do. Della Mea is OK this year, but let's be honest, she's not World Cup podium material. Overall, it's a sad picture, and we have a 0% chance of anything in Cortina unless a miracle happens in Brignone return.   We have two chances for Goggia in DH and SG + maybe a dark horse in Pirovano/Curtoni in SG. That's all. In technical events, we have a 0% chance for medal and that's sad. Our federation also lost Colturi in this situation... In any normal country, the head of such a federation should be dismissed for disciplinary reasons and this case should be investigated by the minister, or even the prime minister, but not in Italy...
    • Mikaela Shiffrin  off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.).  Nina Astner  entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.
    • Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel with a 5th place PB in Semmering GS!
    • Today RDC will defeat Senegal  and Tunisia 0-0 Nigeria
