Am I dreaming? :yikes: That's fantastic. Sadly it doesn't Count for the Olympic ranking yet, but at least it should give them enough WRL Points to have a better seeding in the upcoming months.

triple bronze for Italy...not bad, but looking at how things went, some regrets are more than justified...

meanwhile, in the men's team epee in Argentina, the top teams are falling like the leaves in Autumn...Korea (no.2), Hungary (no.4) and France (no.3) are already out and didn't make even the top 8...:yikes::lol:

Next events will finally count for the Olympic qualification.

Everyone will start from zero but, just for the sake of it, let's see which teams would qualify with the current ranking: top 4 + best of each continent among those ranked 5th-16th + possible host quotas (max. 8 athletes)

Men's foil: :USA :ITA :RUS :KOR + :FRA (5th), :JPN (6th), :EGY (9th), :BRA (14th)

Women's foil: :ITA :FRA :USA :RUS + :KOR (5th), :GER (7th), :CAN (8th), :JPN (6th) since no African is in top 16

Men's epee: :RUS :SUI :KOR :HUN + :ITA (5th), :USA (7th), :CHN (8th), :FRA (6th) since no African is in top 16 + maybe :JPN as host

Women's epee: :USA :RUS :POL :CHN + :FRA (5th), :KOR (7th), :CAN (16th), :EST (6th) since no African is in top 16 + maybe :JPN as host

Men's sabre: :KOR :ITA :HUN :RUS + :IRI (5th), :GER (6th), :USA (7th), :EGY (14th) + maybe :JPN as host

Women's sabre: :FRA :RUS :ITA :USA + :KOR (5th), :HUN (7th), :CAN (13th), :CHN (6th) since no African is in top 16 + maybe :JPN as host

so, Russia, USA and South Korea are the only Nations in pole position to qualify all 6 teams, with Italy and France stuck at "only" 5 out of possible 6...

as I wrote yesterday, I think it will be tough for us to fill all the spots...both epee teams look too inconsistent to get an Olympic Quota place...maybe the men have a bit more chances, but the girls...:nopompom:

    • If Colturi were to return to Italy, we will have another super duo after Goggia and Brignone. If Colturi has to return, it would be right now, when alpine skiing is so popular here. There are still girls like Pirovano, who are quite young and are already started winning. Alpine skiing in Italy is similar to ski jumping in Poland: there are speak about no young talents, but there is always someone new – it is a matter of the popularity of these sports in these countries and the large amounts of money invested in them.
