More (bad) news, Maggie MacNeil has decided that Paris 2024 will be her final Olympics, at age 24, as she wants to enroll in law school within the next two years. Big hit to our medal chances in the women’s 100m butterfly, and our women’s 4x100m freestyle/medley relay.

24 is 'old' in swimming terms. I doubt at 28 she would that competitive.

By then we will have a new talent in the fly. Look what Canada did within a couple years with the breaststroke .

Other than a long course world record, she's accomplished everything you can in this sport. Will never forget waking up at 4 in 2019 to see her upset Sjoestroem in the 100 fly and then becoming an Olympic Champion two years later. She'll always be a legend.

We're lucky she's still competing, her initial plan was to retire after Tokyo but she stuck around for one more Olympics because she feels she didn't get a "proper" Olympic experience due to the pandemic.

55.98 for Penny Oleksiak during the women’s 100m freestyle prelims at the TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont. Not an eye popping swim (obviously), but that’s a great time for her considering her struggles in recent years. Hopefully she doesn’t scratch the B-final.
