Silver for Summer in the 200m backstroke! Broke Masse's Canadian record in the process.

Obviously Reagan Smith is in another league in this event, but what an impressive International debut for Summer in that distance.

She went an in season 2:06.81 in LCM (not the same, but McIntosh is also good at SCM..) back in December, and that’s despite rarely racing it, so I definitely knew she had what it takes. Honestly, with how good McIntosh is I thought she might beat Regan, but I’m still happy with the silver.

While the short course world championships were going on, the Ontario Junior International meet was also taking place (also in a 25m pool).

12 year old Shima Taghavi broke 4 national age group records including Summer McIntosh's 200m IM record as well as all the breakstroke events. She even won the 200m breaststroke outright against other 16 and 17 year olds.

Meanwhile, 16 year old Madison Kryger also had a big meet winning 6 out of 6 events. Notably, if we compared the times from the world championships, her time in the 100m backstroke would have placed her 13th overall in prelims and her 200m freestyle time would have ranked 15th overall. The most impressive swim might have been the 200m backstroke which would have qualified her for the World Championship final in 8th and was faster than Regan Rathwell's time.

12 year old Huini Xu also broke the national age group record in the 200m freestyle and had some other impressive swims.
