Well hopefully as the Gulf Coast continues it’s meteoric economic rise, more sports fans become willing to travel there to watch events. I guarantee you this is only the beginning of big events heading to Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia (and maybe Kuwait or Bahrain since they have grand plans too).

1) It is not the beginning, we had many major competitions over there before (for example cycling or artistic gymnastics world championships) and i hope this development will stop.

2) Very unlikely that more sport fans will be willing to travel halfway around the world to a country where it is almost impossible to find alcohol (at a reasonable price), where women are treated like shit and where you basically cant leave your hotel room without risking your health.

3) Please god prevent any official from being stupid (corrupt) enough to give a (major) competition to Saudi Arabia ... whats next ... giving a world championship to North Korea?

Not sure about Eugene ... how big is the stadium and what was the attendance for the US trials this year for example?

Eugene is rebuilding the historic Heyward Field and will have 30,000 for this event (https://hayward.uoregon.edu/)

The area is gorgeous, the weather is very nice, and the fans always fill it (i went to 2 prefontaine classic's and it was a pure joy) the one problem that i have is lack of hotel rooms, it was always very hard for me to find a room for the classic, this will be much different. Plus parking didn't exist in the old Heyward Field, so car had to be left at the football stadium and everyone was shuttled. Definitely interesting to see how this very small college town will host the big event, but i'm optimistic.

I understand USA never actually wanted to host the athletics WChamps until they shifted their policy lately? The sport might be huge globally but I guess it's an also-run in the USA except for the major stars? Nike must sure be pouring a lot of money but it's gonna be curious how the NOP case goes from here.

This being said, I hear Nairobi is the early front runner to host the 2025 World Champs? Attendance won't be an issue there for sure but the organization could be a major problem. Tomasz Majewski was speaking about this yesterday and he said Africa isn't ready to host the WCh just yet even if the U-17 Worlds had a stellar crowd. Guess with the U-20 WCh being hosted there next year the IAAF is pretty much setting the stage for the 2025 opportunity?

7,30 metres in Long Jump is below level? It's the 12th highest mark ever. 6,90+ for the other two medallists isn't too shabby either. I'd argue that for example the women's shot put had worse results.

I only expressed my opinion, which I emphasized and left you the field to assess from my own field of view.

If for you, as only one player in the entire competition jumps over 7 meters, then we probably understand the long jump in a different way. Gold for Mihambo does not negate. I meant more about the weaker disposition of the other rivals.

The championships are over, so I will sum them up in my opinion:
+ high sports level (in my opinion only two finals were below level - gentlemen javelin and ladies long jump)
+ infrastructure
+ equal opportunities in technical competitions for everyone (especially windy)
- judges (especially walking route)
- organizers' behavior related to covering seats with sheets
- boredom marathon and walking route.
If I think of something, I will write it.

What do you think?

Ladies long jump below level, wut

The 50k was so very far from boring.

In the last 15km, yes.

Because they use these listless 2km loops everywhere these days. 50km used to be 50km around the city with a finish on the stadium. That was real athletics. Marathons are the stepchild anyway since all the big guns prefer the big payday marathons but race walking has been totally destroyed by IAAF.

Actually they chave 8 points.
