Near-perfect generation (Zijland-Van Moorsel was great, Vos was great, but they didn't have a team with 5-6 women all capable of winning a medal), women's cycling being more of a 'thing' than in other countries (not very big, but still), more available money, very poor international strength in women's cycling, and so on. 

 

I think it's mostly a mix of Dutch women's cycling being good and international women's cycling being painfully weak

Van der Breggen finaly gets that rainbow jersey. Long overdue IMO.

 

It's clear the strenght of the Dutch team enables them to dominate.

 

What the hell happened with that Deignan though? Since missing those drug tests and barely escaping a ban, she's been struggling for results. Coincidence?
