Cypriot racer is still very much inside Top 100. Plus, Cyprus national championships will be held next weekend apparently, where she should earn few more points, so looks like this enterprise will be indeed successful. :d

This is the situation in women's cycling as we enter the last month...

4 quotas - :NED:USA:ITA:GER:AUS

3 quotas - :SWE:POL:GBR:CAN:BEL

2 quotas - :RSA:FRA:LUX:BRA

1 quota -  :RUS:BLR:NZL:UKR:SUI:FIN:CUB:NOR:ISR:TPE:THA:JPN:AUT:MEX:CYP:SLO:ESP:DEN:NAM:HKG:KOR:CHN:MRI

I made a calculation up to last Sunday... from individual rankings you shall drop Hong Kong; Azerbaijan and Chile will qualify instead. Milagro Mena is number 100 in individual ranking, but she is likely to end up just outside that place.

Namibia and Korea still qualify, but this time by winning the continental quota, meaning China and Mauritius are out, and Venezuela will qualify for America.

Basically, all nations that should have 2 quotas according to nations ranking will have only one, because there are so many individuals in top 100. I'm hoping that Luxembourg will keep more than one quota at least...

UCI should really introduce some "default" individual quotas for women's road cycling. For example, we have the same qualification path in nations ranking, but we also have for example 5 places for highest ranked individuals. If there are more than 5 individuals in Top 100, then we use the current system of reducing nation's quotas.

We should also have some reallocations in women's time trial. Czech Republic will lose its place for sure. There is a chance that Russia will lose one too, if they end up with only one cyclist. Same goes for Belarus.

Christine Majerus won yesterday and placed second today in races in France. That gives Luxembourg 140 points and that should be enough to qualify more than one rider for them. :yes

Meanwhile, :LTU Daiva Tuslaite finished 4th today and got 35 points. Looks like she caught the last train for Rio as she now has 98 points, what is likely going to be enough.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
