Yup a couple of good medal opportunities today in mixed snowboard cross and men's 500m speed skating, still holding out hope in women's skeleton, but she pretty much needs two first place finishes in order to have a chance at a medal. Ice dance begins today, but given our performance in the team event, a medal is now unlikely. Also a big match in ice hockey which will likely determine the group winner.

So I guess we just suck at curling now?

Yup, apparently.  As I said yesterday, we can talk about other countries catching up but all Canadian teams here have been missing, missing and missing.  Not a strong showing from any of them so far.

I think part of the problem is there is this big hoopla around who Canada actually sends. Some of these other teams have been appointed months in advance and practice like crazy. Homan and Morris had no idea until a month before the games.. so their level of practice would have been less than the other teams

Yep, I'm for having some sort of season-long rankings to become the representative at the Olympics as a way to ensure we get the most consistent team. With the Trials, you end up with teams like Homan who perform well in domestic competitions but always choke in the international event.
