@hckošice

it was really close! but not quite...

:SVK Suchankova had the day of her life until the semifinal bout, destroying each and every opponent she faced, but then she missed out the chance to earn a spot in the Gold Medal match against the great Serbian, Prekovic...

still, she's going to fight for Bronze on Saturday (morning)...

Cool. Finally a chance to qualify for Paris 2024 ...oh wait

:EGY Ahlam Youssef qualified to women's -55 kg final , she looks really humble and down to earth , karate is a very nice sport where u see people from differenct back grounds and financial positions taking part just like taekwondo i think

and it's "triplete" of Gold Medal matches also for Italy (actually, Egypt now have 4)...:cheer:

in fact, Angelo Crescenzo will defend his world title on saturday afternoon after having eliminated all of his opponents (his arch-rival :TUR Eray Samdan included) in a crescendo of emotions...

So Egypt will compete for 4 Gold medals and 2 bronzes overall very good result indeed especially that our team is really new at least half of them participating for the 1st time in WCH

Sad news (not that the Egyptian won, just the American being severely injured, of course)...

Hope the American girl (one of the most surprising finalists of the whole competition) can recover in full and quite quickly...:fingers:

but there's nothing official from WKF or even USA karate page who posted this from 7 hours

the initial decision actually from WKF was that Luxembourg player won the marth , but then USA karate protested and they accepted this protest

    • I think the reason is that it's generally preferable to have a fast shooter in the 1st leg, and especially in the prone shooting, where Hofer is quite slow.   Now, I'm not saying I agree with the choice, because I don't. I think it's going to neutralize Giacomel's skiing skills in the 1st lap at least.   I guess the idea is to try and set a very fast pace in the 1st leg, which is usually quite tactical, but I'm afraid that's going to force Giacomel to risk too much because he will feel he has to make some time somehow.   Regardless, Italy must be on the podium tomorrow. I think that would be crucial for the following races as well. I think France is the clear favorite, but the other teams are not stronger than Italy on paper.
