Also with the ban of Simsek, we will get a third medal from Beijing. :yes

Probably not, because Maneva herself was also suspended during her career.

It's similar to Marion Jones' disqualification from 100m in Sydney. IOC decided not to give Ekaterini Thanou the gold because she was also suspended at some point.

Boooo, that like makes no sense. It's a totally different competition and for which she was allowed to compete. So if she got a medal regularly it would be valid, but because she didn't and the ones in front of her cheated, no she won't. That's some real BS..

New list from IOC !

https://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-sanctions-eight-athletes-for-failing-anti-doping-test-at-beijing-2008-and-london-2012

:CHN Lei CAO - 2008 - Weightlifting (Women's 75kg) - Gold medal

:CHN Xiexia CHEN - 2008 - Weightlifting (Women's 48kg) - Gold medal

:CHN Chunhong LIU - 2008 - Weightlifting (Women's 69kg) - Gold medal

:BLR Nadzeya OSTAPCHUK - 2008 - Athletics (Women's shot put) - Bronze medal

:BLR Darya PCHELNIK - 2008 - Athletics (Women's hammer throw)

:AZE Intigam ZAIROV - 2012 - Weightlifting (Men's 94kg)

:ARM Norayr VARDANYAN - 2012 - Weightlifting (Men's 94kg)

if I'm not wrong IOC talked about 101 positive results in re-testing, (so far) now with this they already sanctioned 96 cases. which mean 5 more remaining.

5 are

:JAM Nesta Carter - athletics

:RUS Vera Ganeyeva - athletics

:TUR Adam Kileci - boxing

and 2 unknown.

Also semi-official is the fact that 6 more Russians will be named soon

Possibly including

:RUS Khadzhimurat Akkayev  - wrestling

well there were rumors about two wrestlers Taymazov (UZB) and Fedoryshin (UKR) ! since UWW officially denied rumors about Asgarov (AZE) and didn't say anything about these two cases , they are probably more than just rumors.

Akkaev is a weightlifter. ironically he didn't even particpate in London 2012. came to the location but withdrew in the last day because of an "injury"

Jamaica's men's 4x100m relay and Tatyana Lebedeva got disqualified from 2008 Olympics.

Bolt loses a gold medal.

Jamaica losing a gold is a big story but Lebedeva testing positive is an absolute disaster for Russia that could make things very difficult for the nation.

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
