Pan American Games 2019

It could happen, Mexico has been making good on its chances. There's still a lot to go and it could end up coming down to how many gold medals does the United States deny Brazil/Canada or how many golds does Cuba win in boxing.

I agree, but I also think swimming will make a big difference. Mexico is not expected to win any gold medals (or even maybe any medal at all) in swimming, so this sport could define which nation will jump to second place.

Interesting Panamerican Games, what a good tournament for Mexico!!.

Canada will defeat any "gold draw" with all that silvers

After this results, i have some hope to defeat Colombia.....but is more hope than reality, i admit that.

Mostly disappointment for Canada so far, but that was to be expected with a lot of  b teams. I am surprised and happy to see Canada is third in overall medals.

The baseball venue is amazing!! I have to say the best one at the Pan AMs in history. They are also playing baseball music as well.

TBH most of the venues are really nice. Pretty impressive by Lima as a host so far.

I have thought the exact same thing. The venues have looked world class

Totally agree. There are no chance of gold in swimming, and curiously, prospects in diving don't look good either.

I think Mexico can be between 25 and 30 gold medals and challenge Canada for the 4th position. But in all honesty, I think we'll just fend off Colombia for fifth. Among our "secure" medals are racquetball and basque pelota, which should give us around 6-8 more golds, between them. But besides that, our major hopes are women team archery, women trampoline gymnastics, track cycling, group rhythmic gymnastics and that's all.

I'm starting to think Mexico can be 3rd or 4th in medal table.

Thanks for the confidence, these past days have been great, but it probably be a good 5th in the end, and a new record in medals, both gold and total, outside Mexican soil.

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
