Ski Jumping at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

I don’t think countries are allowed to field anyone from Nordic Combined for the team event. At least, based off this line from the qualification document: “Participation in the Men’s Team and Mixed Team events are only available to athletes who have qualified to participate in the individual Ski Jumping events in the OIympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.”

Seems a bit odd when people are regularly drafted into CC relay teams from biathlon, which is a completely different federation.

If Finland :FIN will decline the 5th quota the Romania :ROU will have 2 spots.

Finland Refused both places, so we will have 2 ski jumpers 🥳

Finland refused reallocation. Apparently they are not so desperate to send Janne Ahonen just to have a team. :p

It also should mean that there will be, at best, 9 entries for the team events in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined :nopompom:

There are extra quotas reserved to find 12 teams if not otherwise qualified. Looks like :USA:UKR will get one each to complete the team. Well done Ukraine. This would cover nations with 3 individuals qualified. Next up would be nations with 2 individuals, presumably, and the first in line would be - :ROU.

EDIT: Looks like they are already using those 5 extra spots. Nevermind then.

Anežka Indrácková :CZE 15y.o. female jumper won the national championships yesterday and as :CZE accepted the third female quota, most likely she will be the one be jumping alongside her sister Karolína and Klara Ulrichová..... Nice improvement from 0 in Pyeongchang to 3 i Beijing 💪💪

After :ROU accepted the two quotas there are still two places to be accepted. :UKR & :USA are the first in line (both would have three athletes each if they do).

Some new positive COVID cases. :NOR D.A. Tande, F.Villumstad & J.A. Forfang + :POL P.Zyla.

Polish team was supposed to leave on January 31st but athletes need four negative tests upon arrival and the oldest only five days prior to arrival. So this will be a very close run thing.

Several top names have withdrawn from Titisee-Neustadt World Cup this coming weekend including Marius Lindvik who was in close contact with Tande but hasn't tested positive yet.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
