:LTU Team Lithuania confirmed:

  • 4 Men: Tomas Kaukėnas, Vytautas Strolia, Linas Banys, Karol Dombrovski
  • 1 Woman: Gabrielė Leščinskaitė

What a cruel twist for my liking. Both Crnković and Kočergina end up as first reserves.

Covid?

We know a Finnish athlete gave a positive test in Antholz. IBU announced it on 23 January.

Finland's roster was announced on 24 January. I presume, they were aware who the positive athlete is, when they named the team. If Janka is positive and they include her in the roster, they probably have indications, that she will be able to compete.

Is there a problem with double posting today? It happened to me twice and I see there is a similar issue in the cross-country at the Olympics thread

There’s often a problem with caching - ie the website shows an older version of the page, not the current one.

I wonder how this one will work, but Belarus has told their athletes that they are not allowed to talk to the media.  Officially they will only be able to talk to media from Belarus.  There is a good chance that we will see one Belarus medal, how do they avoid talking to the press in the press conference?  That could be really odd.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
