Some info about the 2030 long track issue. One (new) option could be to use a temporary track in an already existing hall somewhere (anywhere really) and then reuse it as a training facility up into the mountains with limited costs for the french speed track program (which is currently being reinstalled by the roller sports federation).

IMO, this would be the best case scenario as a permanent long track rink sounds very much like a dead option (who would want on its territory a huge infrastructure guaranteed to run at a multi-millions loss every year ?)

Once again, the IOC will do *literally anything* to not host long track outdoors.

There are no track in the country (outdoor or indoor). The one from Albertville was converted into an athletic one right after the Olympics.

Stoss also hinted that both sides are already looking beyond the likely awarding of the Games in July, suggesting that discussions about new sports have already begun.

“Immediately after the election we will come together to finalize the Olympic Program and it will be time in 2025 or 2026 to talk about new sports,” Stoss said.

“We have some ideas, we discussed it already,” he said about the organizing committee’s option to propose additional, locally relevant sports to the Winter Olympic program.

France is hosting an Olympics this year, I would rather they not get another one so soon…

Same thing applies for Salt Lake City, although for me it’s even worse because that’ll mean it’ll be back to back Olympics in United States.

I know it's a discipline but I wouldn't be shocked if free riding got added.

Other than ski mountaineering I'm not sure what sports (that aren't under the FIS umbrella, like speed skiing) are "locally relevant".

Ice climbing, maybe?
