But there will only be 3 paddlers in this event.  B.2.1 allows for a K1 athlete to double up in C1, and vice versa, if no-one else qualifies for the other event.  But this same paragraph specifically refers to only these two events.  There is no equivalent clause for Extreme, at least that I can see.

The biggest thing I see is in the reallocation of the athlete quotas at the 2023 World Championships. Before, the reallocations would go to the K4 boats first, but now they won't.

Confirms that World Sailing are sticking with the quadrennial all-Olympic-classes World Championships (which can be in mid-cycle year or pre-Olympic year; it's the latter on this occasion) as the primary qualification regatta. With the exception of the 2024 ILCA 6/7 editions (for women/men only, in that order), none of the separate WCh will have any quota places on offer.

Man, sailing is really pushing it. They are the first federation with universality qualifier + universality invitations, and of course the useless continental spots. No wonder the federation is on the edge of bankruptcy.

I never understand why do we need 40 people for each of the laser events when at best 12 are competitive.

 

IOC could easily shave 20 (10 & 10) quotas there and use them for other sports or just save to keep the overall games athlete quota within the desired margins.
