Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

we were supposed to send a full team to this Grand Prix in UK but the whole team denied visa. (or I should say they didn't receive an answer)

Yep, sport and politics should not be mixed unless we want to

How to read this? I saw that only events from kult 2022 will count, this ranking includes results from 2020/2021 why?

I would have said, that Iran should escalate this situation to WT and the IOC, but frankly they wouldn't do anything about it, so why bother.. Doesn't matter, that it's a blatant hindrance to the qualification system.

Still I cannot understand why Iran helps Russia, where is this country which was host for mamy Polish refugees during war.

They always protest but this is Iran and that's UK we already know the outcome.

nothing new, this is happening over and over . if I remember correctly WT promised to do something when UK government did the same (not for the whole team but some members of the team) for the 2019 World Championship but ...

this is not a fair world.

  • 4 weeks later...

from what I read some coaches from main Taekwondo countries had a meeting with WT president asking him to make some changes in the rules, not getting into details but what's probably more interesting is they asked WT president to remove Grand Slam from the calendar (and therefore from the Olympic qualification)

and looks like there is a good chance WT accepts that. no Grand Slam tournament is scheduled in WT calendar this year

The olympic ranking is from January 2020 to December 2023, 4 years.

    • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
