very depressing day #2 at the :ITA Spring Nationals

only 3 qualifying times for the World Champs recorded earlier tonight:

Thomas Ceccon (very modest 53.36, men's 100m Back)

Federico Poggio, 58.73 beating the reigning world champion Nicolò Martinenghi, 59.06 (men's 100m Breast)

other champions (outside the QT for Fukuoka):

Silvia Scalia (28.04, women's 50m Back)

Federico Burdisso (23.52, men's 50m Fly)

Ilaria Bianchi (58.45, women's 100m Fly)

Martina Carraro (2.24.22, women's 200m Breast)

Simona Quadarella (1.59.41, women's 200m Free...it looks a Century ago when this race was the most anticipated and excting of the whole meet...how much we miss you, Federica!)

Ceccon knows he doesn't have to taper to make the Italian team but he'll be as fast as always at worlds.

    • Just rewatched that last minute, because apparently there were a controversy according to medias, but it took almost 15 minutes.  oh dear, this sport is just something else.
    • Apparently was leading 0.4 seconds to go by 3 points but still managed to lose the match     Anyway it looks there some progress from the loses to Albania and co from couple of years ago... maybe thhere a chance for a win in a international match in the next decade. As San Marino proved last week in football, only sky is the limit

    • Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.
