Track Cycling Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Any news about possible reallocations? The quotas have not been totally fulfilled yet, especially sprint and keirin. And :CZE is on the waiting list - 1st below the line in 2 disciplines now - men's Keirin and women's omnium) and 2nd below the line in men's Sprint and women's sprint. Any expectations or predictions? Honestly, right now, I am surprised that there are only 24 qualified spots in women's sprint when the original number should be 30. Are waiting for the decision till the end of May when could be announced tripartite invitation and other reallocations? Thanks

There are more than 24 qualified spots for sprint - I think the only question outstanding on the women's side was what Italy was going to do with their 2nd quota but even that may have been resolved by now.

Apologies for making assumptions but I am guessing you've used Wikipedia as the source for the 24 qualified spots but whoever has updated that page has got it wrong (again!). They haven't applied the cross quotas for sprint and keirin (i.e. those who qualify in sprint also qualify in keirin and vice versa). So, France for example have qualified a rider through the sprint rankings and a rider through the keirin rankings and therefore should be shown as having 2 quotas for both events but Wikipedia is only showing them with 1.

Long story short, I don't think we're going to see a huge number of quotas being reallocated in track cycling.

Looks like the Team GB is in bit of a dilemma

Archibald’s injury may mean Wollaston would be eyeing for Omnium medal and Women’s team Pursuit might favour Team NZ

It’s not a dilemma, it’s just a shame that one of the most intriguing battles in track have been taken from us.

Still on the plus side Neah Evans could well medal in the Omnium (I think she can compete with Lotte and maybe even Ally if she is at her best) and the women’s pursuit 4 of Barker Evans Morris and Knight have performed at a very high level already this year and may still be good enough to get into the gold medal race against NZ and give them a good run for their money.

With Katie though the GB women’s Track team were looking at doing something historic so it’s a huge loss and one that I’m devastated about for her as a person (for those who are familiar with what she has gone through in recent years).

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
