Not even. Between 15 and 18% from what I've read with Niger counting for only 5% of the world production. So whatever, really.
"The French government and energy experts were quick to stress that the tensions will not have any immediate impact on France's needs for uranium as extraction is continuing and, should it stop, existing stocks could still cover approximately two years."
"France is not dependent on any one site, company or country to ensure the security of supply for its power plants.”
“If the situation in Niger gets worse, this would certainly complicate the adoption of sanctions on Russian uranium in the short term.”
"But given the enduring presence of French companies in Burkina Faso and Mali, no matter the anti-Paris disposition of the juntas there, there may be little change to the current status quo."
"After the 1974 coup, which overthrew the country’s first post-colonial government, Grégoire said that “negotiations took place because the French had imposed contracts that were financially detrimental to the Nigeriens, but there was never any question of kicking them out."
"Niger, which has Africa's highest-grade uranium ores, produced 2,020 metric tons of uranium in 2022, about 5% of world mining output, according to the WNA. This was down from 2,991 tons in 2020."
"Niger has one major mining operation in the north operated by France's state-owned Orano, another major mine which closed in 2021, with one under development."
"French nuclear power plants source less than 10% of their uranium from Niger."
"France is also the world's largest net exporter of nuclear energy, bringing in more than €3 billion per year."
"Niger has maintained a market share of between 4 and 6 percent of the global uranium trade for the last decade."
"Niger supplied France with around 18 percent of its uranium between 2005 and 2020."
"France’s largest suppliers, Kazakhstan and Australia, provided 20 and 19 percent, respectively."
"The EU’s nuclear agency Euratom – which gets one-quarter of its uranium from Niger – has also said it is not worried about the coup affecting nuclear power production. If imports from Niger are being cut, there are no immediate risks to the security of nuclear power production in the short term."
"The European Commission said the 27-nation bloc had sufficient inventories of uranium to mitigate any short-term supply risks."
"Another factor that will help mitigate any fluctuations are the relatively low fuel cycle costs (including for uranium, uranium enrichment, conversion and fuel fabrication) of generating nuclear power. The NEA estimates uranium to count for only about 6 percent of the cost of nuclear energy – a figure overshadowed by the 59 percent in investment costs and 25 percent in operation and maintenance costs."
"The possible suspension of uranium supplies to France also raises questions about whether Niger could effectively replace French demand without seeing a sharp economic decline itself – 33 percent of Nigerien exports go to France, almost all of which are radioactive fuel."

Yes, all muslim people are victims and european countries are super racist. I really wonder why still a million muslim people "flee" to Europe every year and refuse to leave. I also wonder why the countries where they came from are such shitholes? I also wonder why muslim people always scream racism when european countries are paying them for doing nothing, but don't seem to care about what China is doing to its muslime population? (i guess that doesn't fit the narrative). I also wonder where all the slave laborers came from who built everything in the gulf countries? I also wonder why those amazing gulf countries can't welcome all their muslim brothers (and sisters)? I also wonder why i don't hear any criticism of how Putin is treating people in Chechnya (i guess that doesn't fit the narrative either)?

Yes, i am very jealous. I guess the local culture better suits you. Are you able to leave the house during the day or is it too hot? Have you met some of the locals already?
Edit: Nevermind. I just saw that you completely lost it on the last page ... normally people that don't care about something don't feel the need to tell everyone how much they don't care ...

The Dutch cabinet has fallen last week, and now in the past minutes Mark Rutte has announced he will not be his party's leader at the next elections (probably in November or so), meaning he will leave politics. In favour or against him, it is absolutely the end of an era after almost one and a half decade.
Interesting to see even someone like far-right populist Geert Wilders talk about him with a degree of respect. Not so much for his political views obviously, but for his overall authority and demeanor, specifically mentioning his handling of Russia's crime of shooting down the MH17 plane.
I just read that VVD wants to nominate Yesilgöz. I can't believe it, this must be a very bad joke. A right-wing party nominating someone born in Turkey ...
Also after recently watching an interview with her, i am absolutely convinced that she is heavily "influenced" by drug cartels. It would be by far the best for the Netherlands to not allow her in any important position, otherwise they might as well just officially hand over the country to the cartels.

So, after XX number of years Bulgaria can finally join the Schengen zone Just maybe
Not sure how this is your conclusion. As far as i know he resigned because he couldn't agree on a more strict immigration strategy with the other parties. If anything i would assume/hope that their immigration strategy will get more strict. Also i think that Austria is also blocking Bulgaria and Romania.

Interesting situation from the perspective of the Ukrainian military: They can’t afford to become too careless/take too much risk (in case this is all a trap/ploy), but on the other hand they can’t afford to waste this chance (in case it isn’t a trap/ploy).

1) I don’t think that it would be smart for him to (publicly) switch sides just now.
2) Not sure if his own people seem him as a traitor. Sadly he has a lot of leverage/NATO allows him to have a lot of leverage, so he can play both sides without having to fear a lot of consequences.

It is really interesting that Wagner „suddenly“ has so many „soldiers“. As someone who doesn’t know much about the military, I wonder how it took them so long to take Bakhmut when they apparently had such a large reserve?

Is there any chance that Prick isn’t backed/payed by the US? Always seemed like the „easiest“ way to „defeat“ a country/Russia to me. During WW1 Germany „sent“ Lenin to Russia and I am not sure what happened with Gorbachev …, so there are some precedents.

Why do the French people seems like they are lazy? Demonstrate because the government want them to work to 64?
In Sweden people needs to work to 65 already and they want to make it to 69.
For me 64 sounds pretty good actually 😊
For me it is crazy that people think that they can have an opinion on everything, even if they can't even be bothered to inform themselves. In addition to that it is crazy for me that people would rather work until they die instead of reforming the pension system or properly taxing rich people. As long as "normal" people don't understand that politicians don't give a shit about them and that they don't have any true power in this system, nothing will ever change. I guess as long as we can travel, buy a new Iphone every couple of years and watch some Netflix, we have nothing to complain about ...
Weird that the level of productivity has skyrocketed over the past decades, yet retirement age goes up and wages/pensions stagnate/go down ...
Crazy to say, but Putin in some sense was right that the end of the soviet union was the greatest tragedy of the 20th century. Since communism "ended", there is nothing to "control" capitalism anymore. I guess as long as it is this easy to brainwash people like you, the people who run the system have nothing to fear.

I hope this is a joke? Obviously this is an absolutely logical decision by the canadian officials. If a large part of the native population of a country has no hope of ever owning land/property, then those people don't really have any reason to work hard. Allowing millions of rich asian foreigners to buy up land/property as an investment (often without ever living there), while a large part of the native population can't afford land/property is completely braindead.
Edit: I tried to look into what canadian people think about this and my first impression is that many are in favor of making it more difficult/impossible for foreign people to buy property, but:
1) There are exceptions in this new law that will still make it rather easy for foreign people to buy property.
2) The bigger problem seems to be that (canadian) investors are buying up properties.
Apparently many countries in the west are facing the same problems. The companies claim that there is a shortage of skilled workers, so the government feels the need to create a huge influx of "skilled" workers (while not creating remotely enough new housing and not banning investors from buying up all the existing properties) which then forces the local population to work for low wages while not being able to afford property. In the end the wealthiest people, the biggest corporations and the politicians that are in their pockets benefit and the rest of the population is fucked. At the same time media (controlled by politics and the wealthiest individuals) portrays anyone who mentions those things as racist/enemy of democracy, so people are afraid to speak up.
tbh, this is a truly xenophobe and racist decision...and it doesn't make any difference where they take it.
it's disgusting. point.

This is a brilliant reply (please don't edit it). I wanted to "give" you all the available smilies as a reaction, but sadly one can only react with one smiley at a time to a comment on this website.
Also: Maybe i am the only one with this problem, but recently this wesbite seems to be pretty slow when updating/showing new comments.
