Great initiative by Bubba Watson, Harold Varner, Wesley Bryan and Jason Day!!! They are raising money to make sure every resident of Detroit has access to the internet, technology and digital literacy training. :thumbup:

 

More people with internet access = more totallympians (hopefully)

we all knew it was coming...

 

now it's official...the 2020 Ryder Cup has been postponed to 2021 and the 2021 Presidents Cup moves forward to 2022...which means also that most likely the 2022 Ryder Cup in Rome will also move to 2023 and so on for the other biennial tournaments...

this week also the European Tour is restarting after the covid-19 forced break...

 

the Austrian Open is on stage...and midway through the tournament the great oldie :ESP Miguel Angel Jimenez is leading the field with a 2-stroke advantage over a group of 5 players (:NED Joost Luiten, :ITA Renato Paratore, :GER Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, :SCO Craig Howie and :SCO Marc Warren)...

:SCO Marc Warren won the first European Tour tournament after the covid-19 break, the Austrian Open...

 

at the end of 4 competition days, he edged out :GER Marcel Schneider by 1 stroke...

 

third ranked was :NED Wil Besseling, 1 stroke behind Schneider...

 

legendary :ESP Miguel Angel Jimenez, after leading midway through the championship, slightly faded away in the last couple of days and ended up in 8th place, 5 strokes behind the eventual winner...

 

next week we're going to have another tournament in Austria, the Euram Bank Open (in a different location, obviously)...

Heartbreak for :NZL Lydia Ko at the LPGA Marathon Classic.  She was up 5 strokes on :USA Danielle Kang after 12 holes, yet Ko loses after 2 bogeys & 1 double bogey in the last 5 holes. Kang had 2 birdies on 14 & 15. What a competition! Kang wins back to back tournaments.

    • I think Julia Tannheimer will continue to perform so well on the flatter courses in Ruhpolding and Antholz, which will suit her technique. Oberhof will be more exciting, the courses are very demanding, but quite comparable to the World Championships in Lenzerheide. That's why I'm really looking forward to Oberhof this season. Anyone who can cope well with the courses in Oberhof should also be able to run at the front at the World Championships.

    • Thanks for your predictions, they are very interesting.   But here it will be a different format. Combined events - pairs of athletes, one male/female will perform in downhill and other will perform in slalom. E.g. Team SUI 1 Odermatt plus Meillard.
    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.

    • I don’t think that Scattolo would be slower/less competitive than multiple of your current starters, so as an Italian Coach I would Definitely give her a Chance in The World Cup.
