This is the first direct qualifier to the 2024 Summer Olympics (though triathlon will finish first). The top 2 teams will qualify.

 

This is different from previous Olympics as we hosted a separate Olympic qualifier. The United States are the defending champions (from 2018, 2020 edition was cancelled), but have missed the last three Olympics. No doubt Mexico will be a favourite to grab one of the spots. Honduras will try to keep its Olympic streak alive by qualifying to a fifth straight Olympics. Other nations with a chance to qualify include Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama.

It is the first Olympic direct qualifier, in one of the few sports which has not yet released the qualification document

I'd say Mexico is the biggest favourite. Not only did they look good in their first two matches, but they will likely have an easier path to the final. The other quota is a bit more open. Honduras has looked best after two matches, but we'll see how they do against Costa Rica.

Huge upset in the Round of 16 as the low-ranked Dominican Republic upset Group G winners El Salvador. Dominican Republic got a bye for the Round of 16. Technically, they are ranked lower than some of the earlier pushovers ( and such).

 

Guatemala defeated Canada in another small surprise.

However, as we know, those who create a surprise are very seldom able to replicate it. This will be a very easy quota for Mexico.

 

Top half is more interesting. I suspect however that Honduras' qualification streak will end this time. Surely the States will not mess things up yet again.

Both are very low down in the fifa rankings. Guatemala 116th, Dominican Republic 151st.
