  1. Frenzel is from East Germany as well. And so are several athletes, who carried the German flag in the past.
  2. It's a public voting between five candidates: Christian Ehrhoff, Eric Frenzel, Natalie Geisenberger, Claudia Pechstein and Viktoria Rebensburg: https://www.teamdeutschland.de/de/fahnentraeger.html
  3. Did I understand it correctly, that Russia is not allowed to send a relay?
  4. Anna Veith https://derstandard.at/2000072759638/Anna-Veith-Fahnentraegerin-bei-Winterspielen-in-Suedkorea
  5. First round wasn't completely fair, either. Stjernen had no chance.
  6. The rule isn't idiotic. It admittedly might have seemed so yesterday, because Germany would never have scored another goal. But in general, it makes a lot of sense. If there had been six seconds time instead of two, blocks like these could be crucial. The Slovenian players made a very dumb mistake. If they hadn't blocked the German players like these, they would have won. Slovenian coach admitted in German TV, that he didn't know the rule. You can see the interview, here: http://www.sportschau.de/handballem2018/video-deutschland-gegen-slowenien---die-analyse-100.html It starts around 6:06 minutes in and he's speaking English. But I don't know if the video is Geoblocked. So if the coach doesn't know the rule. And some players didn't seem to know it either (or blocked the German one inspite of knowing the rule), it's really their own fault. And I would have said the same, if the situation were reversed.
  7. Maybe. But while I like most other winter sports a lot as well, Alpine Skiing is my personal favourite, so losing Neureuther and Luitz was really a pretty hard blow for me.
  8. Luitz might very well have been more than just an outsider, at least regarding the medals. He was on the podium in all Giant Slaloms this season before his injury and also counting last season, he was in the top 5 for five Giant Slaloms in a row. But one can't change it. But it's just awful.
  9. Heidi Zacher is out for the rest of the season with a rupture of cruciate ligament.
  10. Each federation can send a maximum of two luge doubles to PyeongChang. Geueke/Gamm are only replacement, if one of the other two doubles cannot participate.
  11. I did mention the team event in Alpine Skiing. As for Luge: If everything works perfectly, we might get 7 medals. But IMO everything more than 7 is highly unrealistic. And since I do not believe in a medal in men's Skeleton, my hopes are that both Lölling and Herrmann will win a medal in the women's competition. But I concede that a men's medal is possible. As for Bobsleigh: I have to admit that I have still my doubts how they will do on tracks outside of Europe, that's why I made a low guess. But I'll say this: I consider a German sweep in men's bobsleigh much more likely than in men's luge.
  12. I think even a German sweep in Ski Jumping is right now more likely than in men's luge. PyeongChang is no hometrack and even there Ludwig and Langenhan made only one podium this winter so far.
  13. There's no way Germany will make a sweep in men's luge. I think 7 medals at most could be possible (3 women, 1 men, 2 doubles, 1 luge).
  14. I can't answer your questions about bob, luge and skeleton, because I'm not sure what you mean. Too low? Too high? I do not expect a second medal in Snowboard. I would be very happy, if we win one. But the second possibility is Boardercross, men. Alpine Skiing: If Neureuther and Luitz weren't injured, my guess would have been 0 - 5 medals. As it is, I see chances with Rebensburg (two disciplines), men's speed and in the team event. I know that nothing of this is even a very high chance, except maybe Vicky in Giant Slalom, but note that I also mentioned 0 medals as a possibility. I definitely think that we have a chance for a medal in women's team event's in Cross Country.
  15. Let's see: Luge: 4 - 6 medals Skeleton: 1 - 2 medals Bobsleigh: 2 - 5 medals Ice Hockey: 0 medals Short Track: 0 medals Speed Skating: 0 - 3 medals Figure Skating: 0 - 1 medals Curling: 0 medals Freestyle Skiing: 0 - 1 medals Snowboard: 0 - 2 medals Alpine Skiing: 0 - 3 medals Ski Jumping: 1 - 4 medals Nordic Combined: 2- 4 medals Cross Country Skiing: 0 - 1 medal Biathlon: 3 - 9 medals Overall: 13 medals lowest score, 41 medals highest score. Makes an average of 27 medals. And now let's hope for the best.
  16. Me, too. I'm really sad about it. He's about the nicest German athlete.
  17. Felix Neureuther is out for the season after a fall in training: Rupture of cruciate ligament.
  18. Fencing: http://www.pzszerm.pl/static/domain/files/others/136/136/13693_10._tokyo_2020_-_qualification_system_-_fencing_-_ang.pdf
  19. IAAF seems to completely change their qualification system. They will introduce a new World Ranking List which will be important for qualifying: https://www.iaaf.org/news/press-release/iaaf-official-world-rankings
  20. And the Olympic flame has also arrived in Incheon. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-olympics-2018-flame/south-korea-welcomes-olympic-flame-ahead-of-2018-games-idUSKBN1D13CC
  21. I would take these 35 medals at once, thank you very much! I looked at them. I guess none of them are completely unrealistic. But it's highly unlikely that we'll win all of them. Everything between 25 and 30 medals results would be a good result.
