Anyone supporting certain countries at the African Games? I always support And l like a lot of the Western African nations. , , , anyone besides , , , , , . They win too much, or don’t take the games seriously

I could do some really flattering commentary for the athletes parade. “Here comes a country that’s president less for half the year” “Ah here comes the country with the biggest Ebola outbreak” “These athletes are here despite the unrest in their home over their presidents effort to end a long standing democracy” “There’s been a lot issues of race lately, but theses athletes are here compete” “this country is going through an extreme famine currently”. It’s a good thing the Olympic Channel hasn’t hired me yet Disclaimer: Yes, I’m aware of the serious issues that cause these events in Africa, but I find joking and talking about them one way of raising awareness internationally

After Judo we have 13 nations on the medal table . There’s also quite a bit of history already. won 2 gold medals today! That’s 1/4 of their all-time gold medal count. They also sit 5th in the medal table now. won their 6th medal of all-time!!! It was a bronze in women’s judo. won their 2nd medal of all-time!!! It was a bronze men’s judo. also managed to snag a rare non-North African judo gold today. got 2 bronze medals. Very impressive performance for a country with very little history in judo. sent 18 judokas, 11 won medals. That’s an impressive stat for such a young team. (I believe managed the same feat as well) The Beach Volleyball tournament is also looking like it will produce some interesting results. women continued to look good after their Commonwealth appearance. They took 9th in the tournament. has managed to make it to the men’s quaterfinals and have made it to the women’s semifinals Also the men’s side is interesting because , , , were all eliminated unexpectedly in pool play. The commonwealth nations are faring quite well here. Maybe the inclusion of the sport has incentivized and new part of the continent. Tomorrow will be the opening ceremony. Morocco is a 2nd world country with rich culture and amazing scenery. I’m expecting a good show (so hopefully I’m able to watch it). I also start university, so my posts are about to go from 60 to 0 very quick.

Well they use a lot of the same sources we do. Say what you want, but If you ask it’s probably the most correct list at this point. There’s 4-5 lists on this thread and they all contain different sports. At this I’m just assuming everything counts for Olympic qualification

Yeah your right about them only showing the games on the TNT feed. That’s just wonderful because I’m almost certain that’s not available outside of Morocco. Supposedly the Olympic Channel is covering games, but they haven’t posted any schedule yet.

I will say the one thing they got completely right is the branding for the games. Good promos on YouTube, and the graphic design of the banners at the venues is probably the best of this cycle (although every continental games had great design this time around).

Well part of the problem is that Brazzaville 2015 was very successful, had streaming that is still viewable to this day, and had a well functioning website. I understand that African faces serious challenges, but I feel like the fact Samoa 2019 had a more functional website is a bit embrassing. The 2019 African Beach Games were highly successful too. They had a great website, acceptable streaming, and live results. I just feel like there’s zero information available about these games. I could look many places and find what I needed to know about the 2019 Pacific Games. That just isn’t the case here. I just expected more from Morocco. I watched them host a very successful gymnasiade last year. I guess I was just expecting too much from a country that hosts world class events quite often.

The amount of information available for these games is killing me. The website is down right useless for any real sports fan. There’s almost no way to watch the games. The social media of the organizing committee is very unhelpful. It’s a shame really, because I was looking forward to the last continental games of the 2020 Olympic cycle. It looks like I might have to watch the Parapan American Games and Mediterranean Beach Games over this. Unless the organizers get their act together.
