  1. Yeah I wouldn’t mind like 2 per continent per gender.
  2. Eh-Oh! Another American joins the forum! (another member of the media as well ). Welcome @Quaker2001 (I’d guess Northern New York based on the name)! We love users that are active. Have a wonderful time around the forum (and a late Merry Christmas)!
  3. Alpine Skiing is the same event run 4 times... Cross Country has a redundant event as well. Aerials should be cut low key (even though it’s one of my favorites) Halfpipe and Slopestyle require two very different abilities. Big Air is redundant and I’ll give you that. Overall we’ve encouraged non-traditional NOCs to not fund or experiment in Winter Sports (which is a shame since there’s more countries than ever competing at higher levels).
  4. Yeah, Pairs should have gone down to 16, and Ice Dance should gone down to 22.
  5. Yes, and your in the lucky amount of people who can afford stock. The middle class shrinking while the upper and lower classes are growing. That’s not the formal to a healthy economy. Also, if all you’re concerned about is your personal wealth (at least to the point of having a good amount a excess assets), you’ve not actually done much to contribute to a healthy economy.
  6. Half of the athletes sent by larger nations never end up keeping anyway. The IOCs idea was to stop that (and rightfully so).
  7. So, so wrong. Honestly, Snowboarding should make a move to create it’s own federation at this point. The cuts weren’t horrible, but the FIS has made it clear who they value more. Why the fuck, weren’t Nordic Combined quotas cut?
  8. Yes, this the type of change people wanted. Not, let’s cut out the little nations and “urban” sports.
  9. has rejected one of its male bobsled quotas . We’ll send 1 male now.
  10. I think Alpine Should have been cut to 8-10 as well. Though as I said, I’m saving my opinion and observations for the podcast.
  11. Improper measures of a healthy economy. They count the whole, not the personal. My problem with economics (and I took AP Macroeconomics, so I know what I’m talking about) is that it doesn’t really account for the person. People are also viewed essentially as machines, and while that’s true to a point, it creates an unrealistic model of a countries economy in my opinion.
  12. Yeah, lots of cuts as expected. Myself and @Vojthas are recording an “emergency” TWU episode to break these all down in detail. The episode should be out late tonight/early tomorrow.
  13. Well, bobsleigh didn’t suffer terrible cuts (so thank the powers that be). Skeleton on the hand... That’s a shame to me. A lot of the “smaller” nations can afford to fund skeleton, and we’ve seen some untraditional nations athletes do well at the games. Losing 18% of athletes is one of most dramatic cuts we’ll see (at least in the short term). I am glad they preserved four-man, but on the other hand, I would have preferred 30 in both the skeleton fields and 25 in the four-man. Also, quite a big deal to see the regional clause cut. There’s almost no reason for non-traditional nations to even try and qualify under this system. Qualification just to got exponentially harder in most events.
  14. It was like in New York for a while. SNO did a really funny skit on it. Essentially, New Yorkers could own 10 grams or something (as I do not do drugs, I have no freaking clue about the measurements), and not be arrested for it. They just couldn’t smoke it either
  15. Yeah, like your grandmother silently judges you for the entire holiday
  16. In California, people are allowed to have up to 5 plants for personal use . Though, marijuana laws are tricky here. It’s illegal federally, but legal state wise (like quite a few things in California at this point). It’s also legal in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, so you can get rather “chill” while watching the Olympics this year (that’s if you’re 21 of course).
  17. Never really went to church for the “atmosphere” I have to admit.
  18. Woke up to just a tiny little bit on the ground.
  19. All three of those things mean nothing. I’ve said before why they’re false measures of an economy.
  20. A proper challenger to the Salt Lake bid https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1088529/sapporo-2030-winter-olympics-paralympics
  21. Maybe he’s doing a lot to harm the nation, but I feel as though I wouldn’t quantify that as progress...
  22. On snow watch for the second time this year! Maybe climate change isn’t that bad... Severe Rain currently (think hurricane rain), with the potential to turn into blizzard conditions. It’s currently somewhere between 40-38 F (freezing is 32). Forecasted lows between 34-36 F (cold enough to produce snow). Record snowfall expected throughout Southern California tonight. All major freeways are prepared for shutdowns. Traffic in LA will be a nightmare tomorrow and Friday.
  23. This applies to everyone politician. I could literally say the exact same words about Trump.
  24. This sad little attempt a recall is so funny. Newsom may not be as popular as Brown was, but it would be the shock of the century if a Republican was elected. I have no clue what Trump means by “the federal government will get involved”? I mean, they haven’t done anything to help, soI guess that could be a good thing. Although, I have a sneaking suspicion that Trump would just make the situation worse. He’s not really known for improving issues...
