  1. Right, on my laptop screen I see it now, didn't notice it on my phone earlier
  2. I was not wondering why Ultrablue, but now I am
  3. About time. I'm sure all the female athletes (and fans) would be in favour of it as well, since it's all about equality nowadays. Which I think is good, not so much need for special 'lighter' events anymore.
  4. Possible, but not logical: a friend saw this guy in the lift of the Bergisel hill a few days ago and Okabe has retired a while back
  5. I was surprised to see her previous big final was in 2017....I thought she had been gone for at least 5+ years
  6. Does anyone happen to recognize this guy?
  7. Since she's waxing her skis by herself, they're a lot better. It's like almost everyone there either doesn't know how to wax properly or just takes the easy (and less good) way out. Today, again, she did the exact opposite of the rest of the team and that worked out perfectly. Not winning the race was entirely on her (not meaning that in a bad way, she's very happy and rightfully so), her words were literally "I had nothing to complain about the skis today" Which is not to say the problem is solved, this is still literally the only pair of skis she has now and that's just really problematic with still an entire European season to go.
  8. Bring in the Olympic icosathlon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icosathlon Icosathletes, the only people on earth who are mad enough to rightfully call decathletes lazy bastards.
  9. I'm mostly surprised you expected so much. If big African sports events have shown anything, it's that these are exactly the things that are generally just 15 levels below that of the rest of the world, maybe with a rare exception here and there. There might be all kinds of reasons for that so blaming it on them would be possibly unfair, but it's generally just better to expect it's not a fantastically organized event in terms of information, everything being ready, competitions running smoothly and so on. Better focus on the sports My motto for events like this (or at least I'm trying): "Expect nothing, then you can't be disappointed"
  10. It might also say the standards in some individual events are just not that high nowadays
  11. American former biathlete Claire Waichler won the race. https://www.biathlon.com.ua/profile/4846-kler-vayhler Bruna was leading for the first 25 to 30 kilometers, but after that Claire passed and dropped her on the climbs on which she had a really, really good technique apparently. Bruna tried staying with her a bit, but that took so much out of her she didn't have power left to fight back on the flat parts, so all she could do was consolidate 2nd place ( Worldloppet medal ) and that worked out well, despite having bad cramps pretty much everywhere Matias Zuloaga of Argentina won the men's race, ahead of compatriot Franco del Farra.
  12. Halfway and Bruna is in the lead of the women's race, 15-20 seconds ahead of someone else, don't know who. Also no clue about the men's race yet
  13. Aaaaand they're off! For clarification: Ushuaia Loppet is 50km, Marchablanca is 25km. Here's a video of the start (too bad quality drops right at the actual start, around 9:30 minutes in the video)
  14. Craig Engels came straight from the 1972 NCAA championships to run here
  15. 6.86m for Thiam
  16. BBC talking about Johnson-Thompson vs Thiam being such an epic fight, even though Thiam nowadays is like 5 levels above KJT Meanwhile, 6.74m long jump and yet another personal and national record for Thiam.
  17. Well crap. Hoping for some sort of miracle then, because this way it's just a useless battle
  18. Plus they'll always use the 'freedom of speech' card. Which in my opinion you've thrown away when resorting to violence like all of the mentioned people here have done, but fine.
  19. Yep. And that's sad. But I guess those Antifa criminals are very proud of themselves for beating up some 20-year old with five people at the same time. Tough guys Here it's usually Antifa vs Pegida. Next time they meet, police could just come in and lock 'em all up for all I care. I'm definitely against white supremacists, but in not a single way would want to ever be associated with that bunch of empty-headed idiots like you see at Antifa rallies.
  20. If Nonaka finishes behind any combination of Noguchi/Mori/Ito in the final, is she already out of the final? Or could Japan still choose her? It'd be so terribly sad if she misses out because she can not possibly perform anywhere near 100% this month
  21. He should criminalize all of them, both sides. Sad thing is there is no good or 'less bad' side in this, both 'sides' cause nothing but destruction.
  22. It's not like 'slapping a nazi'. These people hit everything and everyone who doesn't agree with them. Regular guy to a protester: "When I was at Charlottesville to cover the events there, I..." Protester: "OMG YOU WERE AT CHARLOTTESVILLE YOU NAZI!" Ugh. These people resorting to vandalism and violence are as shitty as the rightwing extremists, the only difference is they're on the other side. Fuck extremists, no matter the side they're on.
  23. Ah right, that might explain it indeed
  24. Another question: why does Miroslaw have 390 points for 1st, 19th and 20th, which would add up to 380 points? The other discipline winners, Coxsey and Mori, don't have this kind of issue.
