  1. In the PDC it'd be the first full Dutch final, yes. In the BDO there's already been Klaasen vs Van Barneveld which was won by qualifier and rookie Klaasen. To be fair about the women: they are 'underestimated' because generally they just don't play very well. An average over 90 is rare, often times one doesn't even see it go over 80. Mikuru Suzuki won last year's final with an average of 90.12 and that was the highest ever (!) for a women's final. In the quarterfinals she beat Sharon Prins where Suzuki and Prins had averages of 61.70 and 59.10, which - honestly - is just absolutely godawful. There are probably three women who are capable of playing at a decent level for more than a few legs, Sherrock, Lisa Ashton and Suzuki, maybe Anastasiya Dobromyslova on a good day. Lorraine Winstanley, Deta Hedman and Aileen de Graaf are all top-8 players but incredibly up and down. Now there's 15-year old Beau Greaves who qualified for the BDO world championships and is the 6th seed there, let's see how that goes.
  2. I can easily get how Ciampac went to Kompatscher, Larcenëi to Lardschneider (Irene Lardschneider is the one who crashed into a certain Brazilian biathlete at the IBU Cup in Ridnaun this month, sidenote) or Valacia to Flatscher....but Col to Pichler?
  3. Talk about childish behaviour.... Besides, that 'eating meat is murder' song is not eligible anymore, since it already participated
  4. Just seeing this now, but a rider of Panama did finish in the lead group with Richeze and Narvaez at the Pan American Games, so, you know....he's not that bad as awful Ramon Carretero who just had a spot in an Italian team because of his rich dad and DNF'ed all over the place until he was found guilty of doping https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/pan-american-games/2019
  5. Woah hold on, our Jurassic Italian friend said 'Ladino' so I googled that one (and that one is Judaeo-Spanish) Didn't know there's also Ladin.
  6. Oh that show is gold Too bad the original 'judge' has moved to a commercial channel and isn't doing that one anymore, but in it's heydays that show gave so many awesome moments of neighbours nearly killing each other over dumb stuff like a tree being 1 meter too much to the right or someone's fence being 5cm on someone else's property
  7. When I'm in the northern and best part of Italy I just say Guten Morgen/Tag or something similar
  8. Good day being 'Bun di' in Romansh makes it already clear enough it's a Romance language by the way
  9. Although Italy is not one of the four countries recognizing it as an official minority language, apparently It's quite widespread (small numbers, but a good spread) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaeo-Spanish
  10. Some college football bowl game highlights and obviously today is a big day again: alpine skiing in Lienz, alpine skiing in Bormio, the first stage (men and women) of the Tour de Ski and the beginning of the Four Hills Tournament Plus of course all six remaining 1/8th finals of the darts world championships And Biathlon auf Schalke And the women's 500m and 3000m and men's 1500m at the Dutch speed skating single distance championships Actually it's a pretty calm day, looking at the schedule, especially for a winter weekend day.
  11. European Portuguese sounds so incredibly weird and 'flat' to me, it might be because I've grown so used to Brazilian Portuguese I can't really distinguish Latin American Spanish versions, although I can definitely hear the difference with European Spanish, which to me sounds like the person talking has some sort of speech deficiency (no offense meant, it's just how it sounds to me)
  12. There s a Dutch TV show where two women are arguing about cold pancakes?
  13. Half the things people in Switzerland say are impossible to understand if they talk amongst themselves Been to the Berner Oberland (for the Adelboden World Cup races) and while I don't have much problems understanding German, that thing they spoke there was hard to understand (but also sounded cool)
  14. Four Hills Tournament starts tomorrow Please tell me we won't again have this nonsense of having copy-paste posts in both the World Cup thread (which it's a part of) and a separate Four Hills thread?
  15. I honestly have no idea, so many things I forget during a year Mathieu van der Poel's epic Amstel Gold Race win, Karsten Warholm's epic 400m hurdles, the epic men's shot put final at the world championships, the awesome battle against everything in the 50k race walk at the world championships with some smart athletes pacing themselves to a great finish, some fantastic races in several sports....and a 5k pursuit to never forget at the Brazilian Rollerski Circuit As every single year, there were boring and bad moments and absolutely thrilling and awesome moments. I prefer to remember the latter instead of drowning in sorrow, so voted for Excellent.
  16. Yeah no worries, that was meant for our American friend who used that term Thanks for the explanation!
  17. Oh, so not bullshit at all. Just taking advantage of the beginner's mistakes of the opponents
  18. Wait, one of the Brazilians in the team sprint got busted too?
  19. And a big medal favourite.....according to Trinidadians after his insane world record in Cochabamba (basically in space), after which they all reacted incredibly angry when pointing out that his time there might not mean a whole lot
