  1. Did he eat Therese Johaug's lipstick?
  2. Still cool to see the list having increased rather significantly in the past few days
  3. Oh my, a football player/team screwed up in hiding things?
  4. Cruisers, apparently. Which if I'm not mistaken is mostly a matter of different bike/wheel size (bigger) compared to the regular ones
  5. Nothing in the Eurosport Player schedule for Saturday here, but for Sunday there is
  6. They drew interest in Eugene? I think I missed that
  7. Heats, last chance qualifiers and 1/8th finals on Saturday, quarters up to the finals on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully UCI has a live stream or something like for the World Cups
  8. They better first go to Nairobi or something.
  9. He really doesn't think it might perhaps have something to do with miracle shoes?
  10. Wow. For the Dutch fans it was a gift from heaven to have this time schedule, with the main sessions being roughly from 02.00 to 05.00 CET. I think NOS didn't think it'd be worth having some expert in a studio or something*, so much to everyone's positive suprise, they had no studio program at all and simply were live with sports for the full three hours Reporter introduced the session for two minutes or so and closed it off at the end, and there were a few semi-live interviews in between, but that was it and mostly that was timed in between events. I couldn't believe my eyes, normally NOS misses half of the stuff during big events like this to talk about...well, things *they did have a program of around one hour every evening at 19.00 I think, showing the previous night's session's highlights, but I didn't really watch that since I had seen all that anyway
  11. "Games wide open" That symbolizes the reopening of the world after the COVID-19 pandemic? Doors being opened, people being allowed back in, and such?
  12. It depends entirely on what you like to watch Personally I'll entertain myself with the women's Tour de France and all of the other regular cycling races going on (including World Tour races, the Vuelta is coming up already as well). Plus women's Euro football, World Superbikes, Formula E, IndyCar, etc. It's extremely rare for me to find myself without any sports to watch, the only difference is some weeks are a bit more full than others but that's about it
  13. I did see it yesterday It was surprisingly close with Vos, considering how incredibly far ahead of the peloton Wiebes tends to finish in bunch sprints this year.
  14. This is a lengthy yet quality post I liked on another big Dutch forum. I assume you'll need a translator, but that should work fine. What he means in sentence one with 'this kind of posts' is a post talking about it being a 'different time' nowadays, basically. Probably there are some forum specific references in there, but you'll get the gist of the post about how he looks at cycling Yes, teams most likely have way better training methods and professional dealings - FDJ is known to have basically nothing with diets, which is as amateuristic as it can get, whereas other teams have a full team for it. But that doesn't exclude the option that they also go over the edges of what's legal. It's not necessarily one or the other.
  15. Oh well, in the Netherlands every foreign team doing what Jumbo does would be insanely suspected but Jumbo is supposed to do it all on some good bread with peanut butter, because it's a Dutch team and thus innocent (not saying this or that team is for sure suspicious, but surely one knows where to put some question marks?) TV wouldn't show anything but Dafne Schippers in the 2016 Olympics basically, super hero of all time. Which all goes to say I think most countries have quite a dose of chauvinism in them, and not one country is specifically above the others in that regard.
  16. I mean, I know every country has their hypes around athletes and such, but Belgium is really quite something This morning's newspaper:
  17. Hmm, I wonder, did they only read this item from the convenient day of 1 April now, or are there new developments? https://www.stateofswimming.com/fina-asks-ioc-to-halve-olympic-pool-standard-to-25m-after-2032-games-in-sustainability-drive-that-would-see-robots-replace-time-keepers/
  18. Mostly the athletes who aren't convinced they'll reach the SF, but still have a realistic chance. Those who have no serious chance, or those who are dropped after 1000m or so, can simply jog or walk to the finish to at least save some energy. The ones in between are the ones screwed the most Edit: like you said later. Note to self: should read full comments first.
  19. Yeah, if you've got a 200m heat with two or three fairly regular sub-20 runners and you've got a 20.20 PB, you might as well just put all your cards on the repechage... This sort of feels like the one time a few years ago they changed the Formula 1 qualifying format. They'd all set a time for some minutes and from a certain moment, every minute the last-placed rider would be eliminated. Resulting in everyone going for it for a few minutes and the track being entirely empty - as in, literally nobody was driving - for the remainder of the session They did quickly scrap that.
  20. To be honest, an elimination race like in track cycling...I'd absolutely watch that Laps are longer of course, so the format has to change a little to not let it take too long. Maybe the last two or three athletes every lap, or two separate lines on the track where the last placed athlete is eliminated.
  21. I'm both in favour of and against this The time-based thing is excellent, but especially for the Olympics I also like the fact that this gives the athletes from minor countries, who'd certainly be far from any qualifying spot, a second chance to compete and show themselves. It's always kind of sad to see an athlete from Micronesia or something compete for a few seconds and then that's their Olympics.
  22. Oh, and Mayer not really getting into further trouble after the early pole vault issue, as expected
  23. Enough to buy a couple of new pairs of those super shoes Who knew it'd be distance running and the hurdles to profit the most from them, not a combination I'd expect Fantastic race though anyway, didn't hit a single hurdle and it looked like near perfection.
  24. And has anyone who might be watching the WA YouTube stream noticed how Dan O'Brien, who is doing co-commentary here, is almost literally all the time talking about his own career?
