  1. This guy has a spreadsheet which you can download and very easily adapt. It only has a limited number of athletes, mostly the main favourites, but it's better than nothing and easy to add an athlete if you wish. I've added Paris and Ball there myself after downloading it, because of their current positions, but they don't seem to have much of a strong second day (especially Paris). If Paris continues on this way, he's on the way to 7200 or so, Ball to 7400-7500. Which might make Ball a potential threat for bronze at the moment, but he'll still need to improve on his usual performances. We must of course keep in mind these are all teenagers, and seeing teenage athlete making huge steps up is obviously much less rare than seeing seniors do so
  2. Meanwhile in the decathlon, Swedish Jacob Thelander is still the main favourite to win the gold, but he does have more of a challenge than expected: Dutchman Gabriel Emmanuel is performing way better than the forecast and has closed the gap to within 100 points in terms of the final outcome*. *Emmanuel is in the lead after day one, but of course we all know we shouldn't really look too much at the standings so far, but at the forecast standings. Pierre Blaecke of France seems to be on his way to silver for now, although he needs to have a normal pole vault (with normal for him being far above the rest of the field).
  3. Especially Matthew Sophia is just a matter of waiting to see him fall, he could win so much if he learned, well, technique
  4. And another one gone, and another one gone, and another one bites the dust Terrorist leader Al-Zawahiri can go and discover if hell actually exists or if it's all just black and done. https://www.npr.org/2022/08/01/1115035763/al-zawahiri-killed-biden-raid-afghanistan
  5. Odd that Kimmann isn't in shape, I thought he was doing excellently this season so far (in the US), including fairly recently. At least his Papendal training buddy got the world title
  6. Wow, that name seems very vaguely familiar from very long ago, but I had no idea he had ever played for the Dutch team, let alone 19 times
  7. And the rest of the Netherlands is very disappointed that even when they divide every tiny bit, we still didn't get rid of Limburg
  8. Ah, the indigenous people of Amsterdam
  9. For reference: Pogacar and Vingegaard had this power output for a significantly shorter time on their superb climb in Mende in the TdF. Going at 7.25 W/kg for nearly 12 minutes is borderline insane
  10. They are missing Arnaud de Lie, by the way, who has 7 wins this year
  11. Remco Evenepoel with a 45km solo to take the win in the Donostia Klasikoa, nothing to do against that And in Poland Olav Kooij sprints to the win in the first stage. Of course he's not a sprinter people didn't know yet, he's widely seen as one of the top sprint talents after all, but this is his first World Tour win. Groenewegen, Jakobsen and Kooij...there were times not even that long ago when it was a sensational result to have one Dutch sprinter in the top-10 in some big bunch sprint (I remember Tom Veelers with a 4th or 5th place or so in the Tour de France when he could sprint after Kittel being out, that was big)
  12. I knew she was alright in the World Cup and such, but somehow I had completely not realized she has a World Championships medal....two even (bronze 2018, silver last year)
  13. The things I'll be watching (with BTCC coming after the weekend when it's available to download or watch online somewhere, and NASCAR Xfinity and Trucks in highlights format as usual) Looking forward to the Spa 24 Hours. The GT World thing doesn't really get my interest as a championship, but I do like 24 hour races, mostly Le Mans, Nürburgring and Spa (cars) and Le Mans + Bol d'Or (motorbikes)
  14. Don't they have people to indoctrinate or something instead of hitting each other?
  15. Too bad it's without the two main Australian women. I assume Jill Colebourn wasn't there because of living in Italy, while Darcie Morton recently got a fairly serious ankle injury when....running with her dogs, of all things Out for two months at least.
  16. Wow Loris Hezemans will once again drive again, who became the first ever Dutch driver in the Cup Series earlier
  17. W52 has finally lost it's UCI license due to the whole doping thing. Which was of course entirely expected for years already, but now it's official. RIP, we'll miss the entertainment in the Portuguese races (until the next team stands up)
  18. Well that makes me jealous. The swimming world championships were shown by the NOS with at least 50% studio time per session, I think more than half of the finals and definitely more than 60-70 percent of the semis with no Dutch swimmers were shown delayed, because they were talking in the studio during the races.
  19. Canadiens got him, I see? Excellent, that's the team I've got a puck of
  20. On the other hand, Germany had huge troubles beating an incredibly mediocre Austria, while France also hasn't really faced a decent team yet..
  21. It's more about the 'claiming' of the most global sport in the world as their own, because some people a billion years ago started playing it there I do hope they win it though, looking at the remaining teams. They'd deserve it without a doubt.
  22. The only annoying thing about this is the "It's coming home" stuff from the grandstands, but other than that, yeah....too bad for Sweden, but they are thoroughly overwhelmed
  23. Oh wow, apparently Atalanta's stadium is called the Gewiss Stadium, of all things, which of course is a fun bit of detail right now
