  1. He saw that thing in the Rio Olympics where someone got put in the final for it, so...
  2. He too announced that before the event even started, and then had extremely questionable NM's and DQ's, yeah?
  3. Ouch, Kaul dropping 150 points or so with that very disappointing discus throw. There is yet hope for a close fight for gold (if this throw is any indication for his general throwing form) Plus Ehammer has quite a lot of space on the 1500m, unlike Kaul. And a little late to the party, but lovely to see Abele get reinstated and have a shot at a decent finish of his career
  4. This was no advertisement for race walking, sadly. Commentator saying Linke must be extra happy to win in his favourite event, the 35km. Somehow I doubt the 35km is actually his favourite event...his favourite existing event, perhaps
  5. Disappointing 34.92m for Ehammer with the discus, letting another 40 points or so go He will need to hope Kaul doesn't go to 45 meters or so, which he has done almost all the time lately.
  6. I'm glad in the Netherlands it's always been called 'Tsjechië' so this whole discussion isn't even a point here
  7. Boooo for false start DQ's in multi-events. Meanwhile Kaul had an excellent start of day two and gained a bit on his forecast, whereas Ehammer performed exactly according to the forecast with 13.75 seconds. For now Kaul increases his chances for the win.
  8. And not neccesarily in a good way. Quite some athletes said they'd rather not race there simply due to them not trusting the safety of this track, and considering the large amount of very serious crashes they might not have been wrong...
  9. If Kaul performs anywhere near his normal level, Ehammer still needs absolutely massive PB's left and right to end up getting close Kaul is basically the personification of "don't look at the standings after X events, look at the overall picture", especially before day two starts Too bad I can't find any odds in bookmakers I can play at, maybe they'd make the same mistake as they did with Mayer at the worlds..(with the only caveat to skewer the forecast a little being Kaul's massive javelin)
  10. Even with a jinx he really shouldn't have a problem. I know, it's decathlon and injuries are unfortunately rather common, but so far I think he hasn't been plagued too much by that yet?
  11. Are all those Ethiopian athletes who go to Israel coincidentally Jews (of which there apparently are some, but definitely not many in Ethiopia)? And yeah, as far as I know Salpeter is definitely a whole different case, as in, went there to work, met her now-husband and became an athlete.
  12. Well, whereas Mayer would have been far and away the favourite for gold, after this first day there really shouldn't be any sort of significant challenge for Kaul, unless he gets some sort of total collapse, injury or whatever, which is of course not to be hoped. Maybe the fight behind him can be interesting though, Estonia even with two excellent medal chances, that'd be something.
  13. Since it seems that every option I potentially have to watch swimming (NOS, BBC, Belgian and German TV) entirely ignored the 50m backstroke and 1500m freestyle finals: were they any good or is there no sense in trying to find a replay and I'd better just check the result?
  14. That was Awesome, with a capital A What an epic fight from him
  15. That was one of the better marathon finishes I've seen in a long time, that entire top-4 was the personification of will to fight
  16. Apparently the points race can only have 20 participants, but there are 21 entries....so everyone has to do a qualifying race First one has 11 riders, top-10 qualifies, second one has 10 riders and well...you know, just finish
  17. 23-27 August according to the official website, 16-20 according to the OP
  18. To be fair, 100 fly and 200 free shortly after each other is not really something one can blame anyone for, it's not like that's the most usual combination or anything
  19. Right, who broke the Microplus Timing Services results system again?
  20. I honestly don't get how it's more user friendly. I mean, imagine you're a random person who - like most people who watch the Olympics or something - has never seen sports climbing in your life. How is a thing with a seemingly random and relative number of points more friendly than simply the absolute number of tops and zones? Edit: just asked my dad, who has never in his life seen competitive climbing. The tops + zones system seemed easy to understand for him, the points system confused him already
  21. And I bet most of those 2,5 seconds or so came in the last 150m
  22. Is there a place to see splits per 100m or something? Vasilev's last part of the race was rather insane
  23. Damn what a final race of the championships
  24. Apple TV+ isn't huge here neither, except for...you know, the typical Apple users with the need to have everything Apple in their life
  25. What's with this weird scoring system in the bouldering in Munich?
