    I mean, gold is gold, but women's madison....talk about uncompetitive events Although at least it's not as awful as the 2019 (?) world champs anymore where half the field was simply unable to either stay on their bike or keep up a decent pace.

    Not even remotely We'll get to that when both pursuit teams are serious medal contenders (they don't even really have a team yet) and distance events bring the same results as the men's sprint events

    Meanwhile, women are about to start. Since it's the walk and weird things always happen it's hard to actually predict, but if the walks were to deliver a podium sweep, this is basically the main chance. Let's see if anyone can upset the Chinese.

    There should be a lot more anger towards WA than towards IOC in this case, absolutely. Or in general, because WA isn't doing much good anyway.

    I'm not saying it's not niche, it is. Just saying that considering the program of the Olympics, that is far from being a reason to not be in the program. Probably the events of which people would be most likely to react laughing and saying "Wait you're really watching that?" would be race walk, doubles luge and rhythmic gymnastics/artistic swimming

    That goes for so many events in the Olympics though. Most of them don't often make for a four hour piece of twists and turns (although this was basically the first 50k I've seen in a long time where not that much was happening, and still plenty happened). Rarely had 3:50 hours go by as fast as this morning..

    Right, that helps More than excellent swim for Kovacs, it seems.

    Yeah, now, but I mean, what their expected level is. It's like if Niklas Kaul is 10th after day one of the decathlon, media might say he's having a hard time, when in reality he might actually have put himself in strong medal contention with that.

    Sure, but that doesn't really change the general strengths (like a weak swimmer suddenly becoming one of the better ones because of this)

    Yeah, why choose a small one? At least 200k people will want to see who would be the very best modern soldier (in 1896)

    Who are supposed to be the good swimmers? Because I dare bet Eurosport will simply call the fastest times great, even if they're actually disappointing for the athletes since they're supposed to do better

    Two judges give it to blue, one gives it to red, two have it a draw but that's not allowed....so red wins. Boxing

    Yet somehow she birdied the 17th on all three days

    But they do need to add combined graphics especially in the lead phase. Every single move can change the order and with that all being calculated automatically, it can be updated within 1-2 seconds of the hold being reached, but they're not showing anything at all. Now you have to keep track yourself or just stare at the live score on a different screen, which is just not useful.
