  1. That was a nasty crash between Pol and Baz
  2. Are Italy and the Netherlands still the two main nations in European baseball?
  3. Jesus, that must have been one of the most boring F1 Grand Prix' ever, what a farce
  4. If Herling's breaks all of his bones as per usual, he might have a shot at it
  5. Though I hope for him he will enjoy his 1-year reign, seeing as next year of course nobody will have a chance against Jeffrey Herlings
  6. Gesink's victory today is easily the result that moves me the most of any cycling result this year...after all the shit he has been through, breaking bones, his father dying right when he was getting back on track, breaking more bones, repeat...so very much deserved
  7. Exactly! So it doesn't matter if the result comes a bit later, as it's only a game
  8. Michael Gogl (Tinkoff), Danilo Wyss (BMC), Gatis Smukulis (Astana), Tom Stamsnijder (Giant - Alpecin), Sergey Lagutin (Katusha), Jelle Wallays (Lotto Soudal), Yves Lampaert (Etixx - Quick Step), Vegard Stake Laengen (IAM Cycling), Valerio Conti (Lampre - Merida), Stéphane Rossetto (Cofidis), Cesare Benedetti (Bora-Argon18) and Romain Cardis (Direct Energie) Today's lead group, who are going to fight for the stage win since they're already 20 minutes ahead of the peloton. Just to underline how the entire Vuelta is going so far: mediocre riders winning stages because nobody cares about reeling them back in. It's like it's the Tour of West-Flanders or something instead of a Grand Tour By the way, with the Vuelta being dominated by mediocre riders winning from early breakaways, you'd expect LottoNL-Jumbo to be there most of the time...but they manage to miss even these chances
  9. His excruciatingly boring style of riding sucks the fun out of every race he ever enters, watching the races in which he is in shape is like slowly, but very painfully feeling the life being drained out of your very soul. Apart from that I'm not a major fan of riders who came from absolutely nowhere to dominating grand tours (remember Froome is the guy who got punished for holding on to a car in a Giro climb because he simply couldn't stay upright not even a year before that Vuelta where he finished 2nd behind Cobo and his magical Saunier Duval-juice).
  10. I don't care that Froome is a British athlete and/or born in Kenya or whatever. I really, really don't like Froome. Wouldn't like him if he was Spanish, Colombian, Dutch or British, I don't like him. At all
  11. Some stages have been alright, but most stages were just big disappointments..like today. Some years ago one of the most epic stages was held here and now it's just an anti-climax when Jens Keukeleire of all places winning the stage. At least the stages won by Quintana and Froome were worth watching even though I would have no problem if the memory of Froome winning any stage would be surgically removed from my brain.
  12. Why is almost every stage won by semi-unknown riders? On the Dutch forums I'm already reading calls to "scrap this Vuelta from the history books, because this is just shit"
  13. How would she win if she's not very popular anymore?
  14. Dude, if that's a parrot, I'm the Queen of England
  15. Question for the Brazilians: now that the "coup" against Dilma has succeeded and the rich elite managed to get her out of their hair, why won't the elections be held earlier? Why have a "fucking corrupt shitface" (sorry for the words, it's a literal quote from a Brazilian friend of mine ) as acting president for more than 2 years instead of simply moving the elections earlier, so there can be another democratically chosen president as soon as possible?
  16. What's so idiotic about the World Cup? Shouldn't there be a global tournament? Edit: This is a volleyball thread, not a football thread. Oops, bye and forgot that I said anything
  17. I wouldn't want to suddenly be standing in front of it somewhere in a dark street in the middle of the night though
  18. Of all new sports, sports climbing is definitely the best addition in my opinion Completely different than all other sports and not some X-Games "let's just have some fun and don't care about medals" kind of sport. This whole combined thing is just weird, but alright.
  19. Alright, back home after a weekend for Formula 1 and, which partly existed of looking at my phone constantly especially during Gabi and Bruna's races in Otepää. Eating up my MB's for internet outside of the Netherlands but I was able to "follow" each and every of their shooting bouts live, shot by shot, so thank you IBU for a good mobile live website and thank you Belgium for finally having decent mobile internet Time to take a look at the Brazilians there. First off was Gabi in the women's junior sprint. In very windy conditions she managed to hit 7 out of 10 targets, putting her around the top half of the field in terms of shooting. I had told her I thought she could keep Etxeberria (Spain), Tsakiri (Greece) and Mkhitaryan (Armenia) behind her, but man, Tsakiri seems to have improved immensely! Either's she's a real rollerskiing specialist or she has gotten incredibly much faster, well done to her! Gabi meanwhile managed to keep the other two girls behind her, but to also set a faster time than both Latvian Matvijenko (by far the slowest on course except for Mkhitaryan) and Estonian Uha, so she kept four girls behind her and that's a very good result. She was happy with it and rightly so Next up it was time for Bruna in the women's sprint and that ended up a little bit below her expectations. She started faster than the two German girls, which is a very promising sign, but missed three shots in the first shooting bout. With those conditions though, missing some shots doesn't automatically mean the end of your chances to reach your goals, so she pulled together and managed to hit four targets in the standing shooting. In the end she finished only 6 seconds behind Latvian Muizniece and half a minute behind German Otto, not bad at all! In skiing time she was faster than both Germans and despite them definitely not being the top-Germans, that's still very good Sunday morning and time for Gabi's pursuit. Live timing was a bit hard to follow there, because there were "wave starts" after 4 minutes and after 4:10 minutes, but apparently the times from the sprint still counted (so you could pass the finish together with someone but still be 30 seconds behind her). Gabi started off very well and missed only one shot in each of her first three shooting bouts, only 6 girls shot better! In the last shooting bout, she hit her first three shots...only to realize she was shooting on the wrong target She only had two shots left for her own target and hit one, so that counted as four misses.. She would have had Latvian Razgale behind her without that crossfire, but still she managed to fight off Etxebarria on the finish line and keep three girls behind her, so she should definitely be proud of especially her shooting results in Otepää, which have been excellent all week (also in training). Last but not least, it was time for Bruna's pursuit. It didn't start off so well in terms of shooting though, missing three shots each in the two prone bouts. Later she told me it was because of some problems with the "clicks" (where you adjust for wind conditions) and basically all six misses were right on the line...5mm higher and they would have been hits...sometimes luck has to work a bit in your favour and this time it didn't. She did miss two shots in the first standing shooting, but then managed to pull everything she had together for her last shooting bout in Otepää and did what she hadn't done even once in the entire week, including training...hit all 5 targets! Great way to end the championships and an impressive bit of mentality to manage to do that If I had to make some conclusions, even though I know the winter season is of course the real target, for the Brazilians as well: - Gabi shot amazingly good all week, it's a shame she crossfired in the last shooting bout, but apart from that, it was really promising. - Bruna shot less good, but showed some very strong will power to shoot clean in the last bout. Also, she was relatively close to the rest in terms of skiing speed in what was by far the strongest competition she's ever been in, so now I'm even more sure of what I already knew: she improved her skiing speed immensely during the past few months
  20. Like a certain Brazilian did
  21. Not even that much, and definitely not the kind for who he can't do anything wrong Already since that moment yesterday my opinion is the same: Verstappen should have taken his loss and settle behind the two Ferrari's instead of diving into a space that wasn't there. On the other hand, it's Vettel's fault that he drove into Räikkönen leading Kimi to hit Verstappen. The only "innocent" one there in my opinion is Räikkönen.
  22. Thanks a lot Vettel...
  23. That's sort of a sad reaction from Pidhrushna. Not very respectful to the competitors for who this is sort of a semi-big deal.
