  1. I think that's probably it, I really don't think any player would play his first Grand Slam quarter final and after one set think "ah screw this, I'm gonna play Playstation at home"
  2. That he takes the 2nd set as well?
  3. Yeah, because he was injured. Not because it was like 'ah you know what? This is too hard, I'm going home'
  4. Thiem takes the 1st set
  5. [hide] Mixed Doubles Semifinals Central European Summer Time (GMT +2) Date and Venue Athlete 1 T1 T2 Athlete 2 June 7th 2017, h. TBD, Court 1, Paris Anna-Lena Grönefeld Robert Farah 0 2 Casey Dellacqua Rajeev Ram June 7th 2017, h. TBD, Court 1, Paris [3] Andrea Hlavackova [3] Edouard Roger-Vasselin 1 2 Gabriela Dabrowski [7] Rohan Bopanna [7] [/hide]
  6. Fun fact: If Bacsinszky and Ostapenko play their semi-final on Thursday, which seems quite logical apart from rain messing things up, they'd be both be playing on their birthday
  7. Of course Just like I would have remembered if I had read DaniSRB, Bohemia and so on were women, but I had never read it so how could I know?
  8. It doesn't mean nothing, but winning it doesn't automatically mean you're the best tennis nation in the world, just like winning the football World Cup doesn't automatically mean you're the best football nation in the world, it just means you were the strongest at that tournament
  9. Example: http://totallympics.com/index.php?/forum/23-beach-volleyball/ A beach volleyball subforum, which a beach volleyball fan could see and think "Awesome! Let's see all the fun that's in there!", only to discover that there's literally just four threads in it, with literally just one that could still logically be active. One! An entire subforum for one single thread! Like is the case with most sports. Why not have a subforum for beach volleyball and open a bunch of threads there when there is news, for a tournament, etc? It just doesn't make sense.
  10. By the way, about new users: it doesnt exactly help that all tennis news goes in one tennis thread, all biathlon news goes in one biathlon thread, all road cycling news goes in one road cycling thread and so on. It'd be a lot more helpful if certain 'news events' would have their own thread, especially if it's sort of unique news. Like, if there's big news about speed skating but only in Dutch yet, I could translate it and open a thread for it, then link to it in English on social media. Or big news about sport X that's only in media in a country with non-English language Y yet, someone who speaks language Y could translate it (or at least the highlights/main points) and have a thread about it which can be linked and shared in English on social media. If everything is in all these central threads and any change in that is absolutely impossible 'because it is impossible', there's no reason at all to link to Totallympics on social media. I post pretty much sports news on social media but I only link to Totallympics maybe once or twice a year to give someone an example of something.
  11. That's the same in any tournament, reaching the final and losing it doesn't mean you're the 2nd best nation/player/team in the world.
  12. Sort of. Definitely the tournament with the best atmosphere of all, or at least in many of the top matches. I've been at the Davis Cup doubles match during the NED - SUI match-up in 2012, when Haase/Rojer beat Federer/Wawrinka and the atmosphere was just electric. Just like it is many times I watch DC on TV.
  13. I'm not the one who remembers exactly who all women here are so I can throw water on them (virtually)
  14. So does Baku and to avoid that I'm hoping LA gets it
  15. Definitely Paris LA for 2028.
  16. HA! I knew that!
  17. Yep, but I think most people don't google for 'Olympic sports forum'
  18. Not only women, but even from countries that are now completely missing! It'd be cool to at least have someone from for example China, being such a different part as the majority of the people on here.. What I'm missing most is some more Asian members, some more from Australia/New Zealand and some members from Africa (we have our most beloved Algerian for Northern Africa, but I mean the more southern parts), apart from that it's all pretty well covered actually, from the Americans to Western Europe, from Scandinavia to Eastern Europe and Asia.
  19. I had never heard of leli
  20. Reforms for Fed Cup and Davis Cup have been accepted, with the biggest one being Davis Cup matches will now all be played as best-of-three tiebreak sets instead of best-of-five Just a matter of time before they ruin Grand Slams as well with their 'everything must be shorter' attitude of destroying magical five setters. http://www.itftennis.com/news/262335.aspx
  21. I've been fasting for a good 4 hours now, my mind is not working properly anymore. Time to eat.
  22. I'll add that to my list
  23. It does, but I know nothing anymore
  24. That sounds like there are 20+ women here, who else did I accidentally see as a man?
  25. There's no man/woman indicator on this forum On another forum it's easier Not that I'd want that here or something, but it does make it easier By the way, you're a guy right?
