  1. 1.3km at the speed of light
  2. It's sprint time in Brezno
  3. Manikala Rai is in Campra in Switzerland apparently, time to see how she does against Ms heywoodu I hope for Manikala that their accomodations have been better than that of the Brazilians by the way: they are on a farm, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, 1 hour by car from the competition venue and with the entire team basically in one big set of bunk beds, where farm life noise wakes them up at 6am and you have to wait with having a warm shower until the fire has warmed up enough water
  4. And there's a fuss about her being the first black woman ever on the US speed skating team (not counting short track, that's a different sport). http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/international/ct-spt-olympic-long-track-speedskating-trials-20180106-story.html I had thought it would be offensive to make a fuss out of that or even use the word 'black' Interesting though (I mean qualifying after making the switch such a short time ago). I knew she sounded familiar, just checked, and indeed: she participated in last year's World Games
  5. 100+ photos and nowhere any sight of Jill, too bad Oh well, late start tomorrow, I hope she'll have a great race
  6. 'Some pics'
  7. Which is why it's often wise to keep one 'rule' in mind: every country, no matter their government, undoubtedly has plenty of decent and genuinely nice people as well, no matter if it's the US, Serbia, the Netherlands, North Korea or White-Car-Istan
  8. Yeah in terms of strange rules and things, it definitely is one of the most interesting countries in the world I think
  9. Owners of cars that are not white or silver in Turkmenistan will get the choice: paint it over or lose your car. Because the president likes white. https://jalopnik.com/turkmenistan-just-banned-black-cars-because-their-crazy-1821778902
  10. "My arse hurts", is what she said. Probably pulled a muscle down there or something.
  11. The father of all 'wow didn't expect that right now' performances
  12. Tied 4th fastest to be exact Lee had 37.42 and 37.43 in 2015, Wolf also had 37.67 at that same World Cup in 2009.
  13. That is seriously impressive by Herzog.
  14. Fourcade on his way to equaling his own record of most consecutive podium finishes in individual races, one more to go:
  15. Just quoting this and kicking this thread to the top so more users might bring in some suggestions. I'm on the verge of closing Totallympics and being done with it, when even a semi-critical/sarcastic post is deleted, a schedule can not and will not be allowed in an opening post (because heaven's forbid, someone looks at the schedule instead of clicks on the results portal)..... These North Korea-esque things make me stand at my desk sort of like this at the moment: Totallympics is so awesome, but all this sort of dictatorship-like things suck so bad. Every single forum in the world is better in that part, whereas Totallympics beats every single (international) forum in the world when it's about the diversity of sports being discussed. Ugh. For f*ck's sake.
  16. That was not good from M Dukurs at all
  17. Yeah Sunday I don't need an extra screen...
  18. Schedule in local time, -2 hours for CET The most useless addition to the calendar I think, but alright, it's competition
  19. Yes, for the strength of the competition it's pure luck that one of the two Dutch athletes won't make it. And to think women's skeleton has a higher number of realistic podium contenders than men's skeleton..
  20. Oh come on...I mean, I'm all for spreading a sport, but it would just be unfair if she goes and someone like Gilardoni/Flock/Priedulena/Meylemans wouldn't go..
  21. Wait, Nigeria has a women's skeleton athlete? I missed that..
  22. That's the hope I was holding out for Flock/Meylemans/Priedulena (who obviously should all be in the Olympics).
  23. Brazilian coach wants to teach me how to ski next winter, I already had several times of dry firing with an official biathlon rifle used for IBU competitions so I know how that works....I'm ready to go!
