  1. The main online shopping site has about 50.000 people queueing. Was around the shop half an hour ago. Luckily not so bad and only a few goods were looking low in stock, but other places it sounds worse. We should be having plenty of goods to make it work out for a long time, but some people will be meeting empty shelves from time to time, if people doesn't stop panic buying.
  2. And how do the Danes react to things closing down? Rushing to the stores making it look like never before to hoard toilet paper, yeast, frozen fries and whatever. Just few minutes after the prime minister made it very clear that there's plenty in the stores if people keep calm. And on top of that there are plenty of stories of people complaining about queues and lacking goods. I'm bloody disappointed and feel bad for the people working in the stores, those usually doing their shopping in the evening and whoever is going to get their grocery early tomorrow just to see that there's nothing left.
  3. The dramatic growth in Denmark continues with the amount up to 514 (and the first few critical) and now we're shutting down for 2 weeks. No events with more than 100 people indoor (right now they're just asking people to cancel, but it will most an order in a day or two (the government need support from the parliament to do so). The same with cultural institutions, bars and pretty much everything. As much people possible will have to work from home and people are asked to use their vacation days.
  4. It's absolutely not impossible, but way too early to call. But in general Japan is a pretty interesting case. The growth is way lower there than other countries (though the numbers may partially be due to a low number of tests). But even if Japan ends up beating it, people traveling to the Games would be a concern if it isn't eliminated more or less worldwide.
  5. Book: The Shining Poem (I really don't read much poetry): In Memoriam, [Ring out, wild bells] Favorite Myth: No idea But as a major part of my book collection are history books (both popular and more academic), I would also add favorite history book: Stalingrad (Anthony Beevor)
  6. Don't start comparing me with Uffe Elbæk! But I'm sure I will. May even make a top 12 at a later point if I get better time later to show you how it should be done
  7. Sadly I've come to the conclusion that I will not be having the time to put a satisfying effort into my votes. Rooting for @Wumo to do a good job for us.
  8. A lot is still uncertain but I doubt that it can't survive. The question is if it's affected by the humidity like the flu. That and the changes in behavior (spending more time outside where you aren't as close) would most likely be the main reasons to believe that it'll struggle when it gets warmer (like the flu does).
  9. I really can't stop finding it a bit hillarious that Matt Gaetz is among them after making a fool out of himself. But then again, it's nice that they listen to those who know what they're talking about and not the president!
  10. And that's Denmark joining to 10 in cases per million. No planes from Northern Italy will be allowed to land. At the moment 7 are hospitalized, though none are critical. Meanwhile people are adviced to stay away from public transport during rush hour.
  11. None since my project at the City Archive ran out of money (well, there's a bit, but not enough to pay a full-time employee) just before christmas.
  12. Oh well. The corona has now hit my training plans as a race that I was considering in late march has been postponed. Guess that means self-training only Less than 500km left in the plan before I'm on the start line
  13. @heywoodu do you know how much testing is done in the Netherlands? Plenty of Danes continue commenting on us not taking it serious enough, which made me think of the difference between the growth in Denmark and Netherlands who had the first case the same day.
  14. Meanwhile I'm yet to have the time to listen a first time Hoping to get it started tomorrow and have time for a couple more during the week.
  15. But you are nonetheless generalizing. Even among supporters of the parties who made the decision, I see plenty of people thinking it's a stupid, symbolic idea. No doubt there are plenty of people unlike me, but there are plenty others like me who don't care the slightest bit how you look or what you believe in. The only thing that matters is how you behave.
  16. No spectators for the Danish contest. Maybe one minute before the first joke came. But so far I'm happy that I'm following Denmark and Sweden at the same time as so far I'm more impressed by Sweden.
  17. Well. The official idea is that it's how we do in Denmark. But in reality it's a symbolic thing just to stop some people from becoming citizens, after having heard a story or two about people who don't want to shake hands with people of the opposite sex. So far one person hasn't been given citizenship due to this. Several places has given the chance to decide who's hand to shake (which of course some politicians wants to forbid (at this point, you may right about some people here, @Khadidja Aisha )). It's purely symbolic to punch at people from other cultures.
  18. Indeed. Even a few mayors from the parties who decided that the handshakes were necessary (let's just say that my party wasn't among) have asked to have the ceremonies without the handshake in this situation. Now people start questioning what will happen if the people who were supposed to be awarded citizenship end up in a new situation before a new ceremony can be held (like losing their job)
  19. And one of the most stupid reactions to the Corona explained in a tweet: Let's just say that I'm not proud!
  20. Just joking with Trump's comments
  21. What? I thought it was contained!
