Fantastic. Just yesterday I heard a talk about toxic nostalgia where Gone With the Wind was mentioned (and MAGA of course ) But to be fair, Gone with the Wind is still seen as an amazing movie. It is a product of another time and as such it does romanticize some things that we wouldn't see nowadays, but filmically it's still pretty close to the top. Not the first movie I would mention when it comes to the classics, but it's one that is easy to sell among his followers.

Plenty of states have open primaries for the presidency. It's pretty much discussed every time that some people from the other party would "help" the weaker candidates.

Says a lot about the potential in the event when Danish commentators talk about that it could be an event that Denmark could take part in (spoiler alert: not gonna happen any time soon ) ' Personally I enjoy it. Like @phelps I'm not a supporter of it taking the place of other Olympic events (if anything, it should be the normal mixed relay), but I absolutely don't mind the close racing that it creates.

May be true, but quite a lot of polling is questioning that. He has overtaken Biden in several polls on perceived electability and was the candidate most voters considered voting for in the post-NH debate poll from Ipsos and he is doing great against Trump in general election polling (though these aren't that useful at the moment). Corbyn lost just as much (if not more) due to his personality as the policy. Sanders is much stronger there. Meanwhile we also have to remember that the participation at the General Election is rather low (somewhere between 50 and 60 %). It's not so dangerous to scare some voters away if you get others to actually vote. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way saying that Trump won't win, I do question the chances to beat him as well, but there are still a ton of unanswered questions and others may end up differently than we think. No matter what, it would seem like the Trumpists will be there for the election in great numbers.

And by the way. Let's be realistic. If Sanders ends up as the president, everything he does would be baby steps . The senate will most likely still be republican (a small chance for 50/50 while something big would most likely need to come up to give majority without the vice president) and even if it ended up democratic, he would need support from people like Sinema and Manchin who I don't see supporting the most left-wing ideas of his campaign. At very best (for his ideas) he would in some Trump-like way make changes to the party that would mean possible major changes in his second term but I don't see that as very likely (though I admit that I'm in no way an expert). A congress with democratic majority is likely to happen again, but once again there would be plenty of opposition in the democratic party. It's not like USA would become a Socialist haven in 2 years if Sanders is elected. That is also what makes me not mind so much if he ends up winning the primary (though I believe I would personally vote for Buttigieg if I was in the US). I think more democrats would be ready to swallow their pride and vote for Sanders if he is the democratic nominee than Sanders supporters would vote for another democrat (especially if that democrat was Biden or Bloomberg).

The thing is. I'm a social liberal, not a socialist or a liberalist. I'm proud of our system (and before you write the same thing you do every single time, I do NOT believe that it can be copied 1:1 to a big country like the US), but I'm in no way a socialist (though some right wing people would surely say that I am, while others say just the opposite). In fact back in the days my most likely 2nd choice would have been the conservatives. I know that in most countries it's Socialism vs conservatism, but making liberalism the same as socialism is really wrong. And you're blaming the liberalists or progressives for the decline of the liberal democracy. The ones disassembling the liberal democracies (some faster than others) are conservatives like in Hungary and to some extent Poland.

And Bloomberg is in the Nevada debate. Warrens' response: Haven't watched the last couple of democratic debates, but I'll be watching this!

I think this primary has just seen it's weirdest polling result (at least among those actually getting a mention by serious experts): Some company called Point Blank Political has a poll in Nevada saying that Tom Steyer is in the lead with 18,6%, Klobuchar at 2nd with 15,6% closely followed by Biden, Sanders and Buttigieg. I would not be the slightest bit surprised if they work with Steyer. But they are good enough to mention that all candidates in the top 5 are within the margin of error. Somehow FiveThirtyEight has it in their list, but I doubt that it effects their average much. Meanwhile a more known pollster (though with a B/C ranking in their system) has Buttigieg at above 15% for the first time in a Nevada poll. It also puts Warren at her highest in the State since november. while Biden drops below 15 % for the first time. Such a result would be good for both Buttigieg and Warren while it would be another terrible loss for Biden that could very well take him another step closer to dropping out. But well, it's a caucus and it's still a few days (and a debate) away.

And I agree (well, for me it's close between the mass start and the individual) and @Werloc could very much have my bow (if I actually had it anylonger) for the battle for the event. For others it's different, and the sports need fans and consider what helps here. Of course we traditionalists (in most ways at least) should fight for what we think is right. But do at least give a little thought to those who like it another way.

TV stations cares about viewer numbers! Without viewers, no commercial interest We can afterall see other events getting longer and longer (at least more cycling races are broadcasted in full length though I'm certain that many would say that there's nothing more boring than a 220km long sprinters stage) Even though Swedish biathlon experts are against getting rid of individual, they admit that it may be the most boring for many. Of course there's commercial interest here, but still ignoring everybody who feels that competitions are complicated/uninteresting or even talking down to them doesn't really change anything!
