  1. A third American team can qualify through the Final QT, which will consist of 6 teams: - 2 from America (2nd and 3rd placed at American QT); - 1 from Europe (2nd placed at European QT) - 2 from Asia and 1 from Oceania (selected through their continental championships).
  2. I can't find an official document for baseball/softball but the Italian Federation has just published an article with all details, saying it is now approved by IOC: http://www.fibs.it/it/news/nazionali-baseball/43221-tokyo-2020,-il-sistema-di-qualificazione.html Summary: Softball Japan World Champs (August 2018) - 1 team American Qualification Tournament - 2 teams Asian/Oceanian QT - 1 team European/African QT - 1 team Baseball Japan Premier 12 in November 2019 - best team from America and best team from Asia/Oceania American QT - 1 team European/African QT - 1 team Final QT - 1 team
  3. Top 2 countries (4 is the athletes quota). On the other side, there might be the extreme case of a country which qualifies a mixed team but will have no shooters starting in individual events. This is not true...see next post, double starters rule would be applied.
  4. So a country with one shooter per gender qualified for an event can enter the respective mixed team event. On the other side max. quota per NOC is 30 and So a country can qualify one mixed team + 2 men + 2 women in the same event, and use for the mixed team 2 shooters who won't participate in the individual event?
  5. At world championships every country competitive enough can send up to 3+3 archers, so it makes sense to add the scores of the best man and the best woman. Here some will be forced to send only 1 + 1. So I still find this system unfair...it would be fair if NOCs with 4 or 6 archers had to choose their mixed pair before the ranking round (Yeah, "they all start from zero", but with a different number of possible teams, 1 or 3 or 9, and not because they chose so).
  6. Only 16 pairs in the archery mixed team event. This is idiotic. If I counted correctly, in Rio and London there were respectively 24 and 25 countries with at least one male and one female archer. The countries that qualify a men's and/or women's team will have the advantage of keeping only the best score, so several nations with only 1 man and 1 woman won't enter an event created for nations with 1 man and 1 woman.
  7. According to the live timing, men's downhill is now scheduled for 13:15 CET. Women's downhill still at 12:00.
  8. Janka in Lake Louise DH 2008, 2nd place with Bib 65 ( https://data.fis-ski.com/dynamic/results.html?sector=AL&competitorid=70282&raceid=53958) is the podium finish with the highest Bib that I can remember. Edit: According to an Italian site, the winners with the highest Bib (66) in the WC history are Markus Foser (as said above by phelps) and Katja Koren (Flachau SG 1993)

  10. It's true: http://www.issf-sports.org/competitions/ogqualification/youth_quotaplaces/youth_quota_places_by_event.ashx?evlinkid=AR60
  11. In women's events the number of shots has just been increased, so it's quite easy to set Qual. World Records now.
  12. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1062089/wbsc-unveil-new-baseball5-format A new "fast, youth-oriented, easy to learn and urban" version of baseball
  13. But it's true . Just read their regulations (picture and pdf file attached) "Second Round:.....The results of all games played in the first round are valid for this round " http://www.fiba.basketball/internal-regulations/book2/competitions.pdf (this was published in July 2017)
  14. Source? (of course I'm talking about people who are legally resident in Italy, not illegal immigrants)
  15. What? He could have played without having an Italian passport, there's probably just a limit on the number of non-Italian players.
  16. Don't worry, I contacted FIFA and they said that their website have been hacked by a Swedish group. It should be ok by tomorrow.
  17. There must be a mistake, I can't find my team
  18. Oddschecker is also blocked. Anyway this has little to do with these prediction contests...I interpreted your comment as "everyone from every country can bet on Olympic events on serious betting sites". I would place a good number of bets if I could, but unluckily this is not possible. Ice hockey and alpine skiing (with a few "head to head" bets) are the only exceptIon among wintersports. And this is a bit frustrating for me
  19. Nope, it's illegal in Italy to bet on sites which only have an international domain and not an Italian one (meaning that they do not pay taxes in Italy) and you can't even see them without using a VPN. For example if I try to visit a site like bwin.com I am redirected to bwin.it, which has far less events available for betting (of course there are Italian people who bet anyway on .com sites using a VPN, but they can get in trouble, especially if they win).

  22. The main Italian sports newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, predicted 13 medals (4-5-4) in their preview on 9th February. I'm not subscribed to their digital edition, so here's a picture. They have been quite accurate until now in guessing the medallists https://imgur.com/a/clyqp (their predicted medallists: Moioli, Fontana, Brignone, team sprint, Goggia, Paris, short track Relay, Wierer, Lollobrigida, Tumolero, biathlon mixed Relay, Fischnaller, Kostner) Windisch won a medal instead of Wierer and Pellegrino won it individually and not in the team sprint, but you can see that even Tumolero was an expected medallist. My point is: many expected these results in Italy, even the NOC president set a goal of "more than 10 medals, 3 golds".
  23. No, they predicted 3 golds (Wierer, Moioli, team sprint) and 9 medals for the events so far, which is exactly the Italian medal count so far.
