  1. I thought you just looked at our threads... and until the Christmas break we used to have only 1 overall World Cup thread, meanwhile now we have 2 separate threads for basic World Cup events and Grand Prix events (even if at the end of the season we still have only 1 overall world cup ranking)... that's it...

  3. Men's Individual Foil (Tokyo, JPN) Final Results Gold: Richard Kruse Silver: Race Imboden Bronze: Alessio Foconi & Daniele Garozzo Semifinals: Kruse b. Garozzo 15-10 Imboden b. Foconi 15-6 Gold Medal Match: Kruse b. Imboden 15-9 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2019/142/results/rank
  4. I told @Sindo that splitting basic World Cup and Grand Prix events could have been a little tricky for those who don't follow the sport that closely... and here we go with the first "misunderstanding"...
  5. Day #2 Recap at the end of the day, only 1 of the 3 Italian finalists got the Gold Medal...good, but it could have gone better (especially Bellandi lost her final bout because of a very silly mistake)... so, finally we have had 4 winner s from 4 different Countries: Maria Centracchio won the women's -63kg, Anna Bernholm the women's -70kg, Vadzim Shoka the men's -73kg and local hero Sagi Muki had his glory day in the men's -81kg... therefore, after 2 days of competition, Israel still lead the medal table with 3 Gold Medals followed by Italy with 2. Meanwhile Belgium, Belarus, Kosovo and Sweden got 1 Gold Medal each. Today is the last day of the Tel Aviv Grand Prix, with the men's -90kg, -100kg, +100kg and women's -78kg, +78kg on stage...
  6. yeah, the Italian federation has always had good relationship with Iran... also in Wrestling they recently sent a few of our guys to train in your Country (in Italy Judo, Wrestling and Karate are under the same federation)... and Giovinazzo was the Iranian Judo NT coach for a while some time ago... p.s. actually, it could be a good agreement...we can let Aghayev get all the Iranians out and then we take care of him also for your revenge... just joking, of course...
  7. New Kata judging system makes debut at Karate1 Premier League in Paris History of Karate was written today in Paris. The updated judging system for Kata was officially unveiled in the Karate 1-Premier League Paris as the sport continues taking steps towards its debut in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The new rules for Kata are modernising the way that the category of choreographed movements is evaluated. With the new system, point-allocation replaces the traditional flags. A panel formed by seven judges assesses the performance of karatekas, and scores are given according to the technical and athletic presentation of the Katas. “This new system is the result of many months of hard work and analysis by many members of the WKF. The determination to implement the updated rules was a much-meditated decision, and I think it continues taking our sport in the right direction. Obviously, it will take some time to get used to this procedure, but in the end, I am convinced that the new system will contribute to further drive our sport towards excellence, objectivity, and innovation” declared WKF President Antonio Espinós. These are the main updates of the modernised Kata judging system: 1. All the competitors are divided into groups of eight karateka. 2. Each karateka performs their kata in front of the panel of judges. 3. The panel of judges evaluates the kata in terms of technical and athletic performance. 4. Judges give points for each of the two criteria. The two highest scores and the two lowest scores are automatically eliminated. With the rest points, the total is calculated. A breakdown is applied of 70% for technical performance and 30% for athletic performance. 5. A ranking is thus established with the points of all the karateka in the pool. The top four competitors in the pool proceed to the following round. 6. When only two groups of eight competitors remain, a new kata will be performed by the athletes to win their qualification to the medal bouts. 7. The second and third-ranked karateka from each group will clash for the bronze medals. The two top athletes will clash for gold. New Kata rules explained:
  8. not a bad day for Italy...2 spots in the Gold Medal matches and 4 in the Bronze Medal contests are a more than respectable result... but not the best day as possible, as our superstar Luigi Busà lost (badly) too early to the Iranian no.2, who then lost by himself in the semifinal match vs Rafael Aghayev and thus eliminated Busà from the Bronze Medal Repechage round... and this is getting more than suspicious...there's a good chance that Busà just can't cope with the style of the Iranian guys...in the last few events, he's always losing against them, whoever shows up against him... more in general, we have 3 Kumite (and the women's Kata, but this was quite obvious before the start of the competition) reigning World Champions out of 5 competing today in the big final and quite a good number of "big names"/very few "unknown" players qualified to the medal matches... that's the "Olympic effect", I guess...
  9. last updates for Today (the remaining classes will be contested Tomorrow)... women's individual Kumite, -55kg Gold Medal Match: Dorota Banszcyk vs Anzhelika Terliuga Bronze Medal Match #1: Shiori Nakamura vs Fumika Ishiai Bronze Medal Match #2: Lorena Busà vs Khawla Ouhammad men's individual Kumite, -67kg Gold Medal Match: Steven Dacosta vs Luca Maresca Bronze Medal Match #1: Francesco D'Onofrio vs Assylbek Muratov Bronze Medal Match #2: Didar Amirali vs Ayoub Zakaria men's individual Kumite, -75kg Gold Medal Match: Rafael Aghayev vs Ken Nishimura Bronze Medal Match #1: Ali Asiabari vs Yusei Sakiyama Bronze Medal Match #2: Stanislav Horuna vs Thomas Scott
  10. there was already an attempt to put the NT Luge in the Olympic program in 2006...and it didn't go well at all... and then they made an even more serious effort with Beijing 2022, but once again the request was rejected big time... I think all the possible efforts have already been done...I don't see NT Luge coming to the Games in 2026, too...unfortunately...
  11. some updates... women's individual Kumite, -50kg Gold Medal Match: Miho Miyahara vs Serap Ozcelik Arapoglu Bronze Medal Match #1: Erminia Perfetto vs Jessica De Paula Bronze Medal Match #2: Shara Hubrich vs Reem Ahmed Salama men's individual Kumite, -60kg Gold Medal Match: Angelo Crescenzo vs Majid Hassannia Bronze Medal Match #1: Evgeny Plakhutin vs Jovanni Martinez Bronze Medal Match #2: Saud Albasher vs Darkhan Assadilov and in the men's -67kg, we have Didar Amirali vs Luca Maresca + Steven Dacosta vs Francesco D'Onofrio in the semifinals... p.s. for those who cares (not me, tbh), in the men's Team Kata we have Epinal Sous Sènart (FRA) vs TUR + Master Rapid (ITA) vs MAR in the Bronze Medal matches and ESP vs KUW in the Gold Medal match...
  12. yeah, but those idiots of the IOC prefer to have senseless events that barely exist since a couple of years rather getting that historical discipline into the Olympic program...
  13. well, the problem goes back some more time... Armin was just a flash in the dark...we don't have a dominating team since the mid-Nineties...no good women after Weissensteiner's switch to Bobsleigh, promising Doubles that never got what it was expected from them...and the Fisch cousins that are so inconsistent from time to time... nothing seems to have worked out as it should have been in the last 20 years (apart from Armin's amazing career, of course)...
  14. may I say I'm seeing some depressing results? (not talking of the Italian performance, of course) and this one is the worst of them all...
  15. p.p.s. no comment on Italian misery... and we once were a powerhouse in this sport...
  16. sure...I've never seen a race in Winterberg not affected by weather conditions... when it's cold, there are issues with wind and ice conditions...when it's warm, no need to say that's always a lottery...and when it's snowy, not only it's a mess, it's also a very dangerous track... tbh, they should get rid of that track...actually, they should have done it a long, long time ago... p.s. and yeeesssss!!!!! it's not gonna be 7 out of 7 for Germany... I guess some heads are gonna swirl tonight in the German camp...
  17. I still think that Sprint races are absolutely senseless... however, I guess the Germans are happy to win 7 (instead of only 4) world titles this weekend, so we have to take notice also of these ones...
  18. no, I don't have any other source than the sportdata system (I normally check only the draw sheets with progressive updates once every while)... maybe you can try on the official site of the event (the link is in the notes of the live streaming you posted this morning...just open the full page on YT), but I don't think they have another scoring system...probably there's a link to sportdata also there...
  19. wow! in today's 4 Gold Medal matches, we're going to have 3 Italians represented (and the 4th one isn't there just because of a stupid mistake in the semifinals)... I think it's the first time ever that Italy have so many guys in the finals of a single session at a Grand Prix event...
  20. new system, but good same old results in women's Kata... women's individual Kata Gold Medal Match: Sandra Sanchez Jaime vs Kiyou Shimizu Bronze Medal Match #1: Grace Lau Mo Sheung vs Viviana Bottaro Bronze Medal Match #2: Sakura Kokumai vs Hikaru Ono meanwhile, right now the first Kumite classes are underway...and in the men's -60kg we have Saud Albasher vs Majid Hassannia + Angelo Crescenzo vs Evgeny Plakhutin in the semifinals...
  21. after Christmas' break, the Judo World Tour is back with the Tel Aviv Grand Prix event and quite a few points for the Olympic Qualification Ranking up for grabs... Day #1 saw the Host Nation on top of the medal table with 2 Gold (Shira Rishony in the -48kg and Timna Nelson-Levy in the -57kg) and 1 Silver medal (Gili Cohen in the -52kg) out of 3 women's weight classes... the only women's non-Israeli Gold medal went to the Olympic Champion Majlinda Kelmendi, back to her best shape after a difficult period due to injury... in the men's division, only 2 weight classes were contested yesterday...and the Gold medals went to Jorre Verstraeten in the -60kg and to the reigning junior world champion Manuel Lombardo, at his first senior success in the -66kg... 22. Nathan Adrian diagnosed with testicular cancer https://swimswam.com/nathan-adrian-diagnosed-with-testicular-cancer-still-eyeing-tokyo/ Luckily, it looks that the prognosis is still a good one...
  23. that's great news! Thanks a lot (today's gonna be a hard day between Luge, Biathlon, Alpine Skiing, Judo and Karate* -not to mention the "other" many things to do )... *and I forgot the Handball Worlds semis... I don't really know how I can manage all this stuff...
  24. Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling -85kg Gold Medal Match Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling -130kg Gold Medal Match Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling -130kg Bronze Medal Match A
