  1. by the way, after the shameful ending of the Hockey Worlds' Prediction Contest, I'm also going to announce my retirement from this kind of competitions... I'm tired of being joked every time by people who don't know Hockey as I do... I never gonna expose myself once again...
  2. one of my favourite players, even if he never played for teams I like... I wish him all the best for his next challenges...
  3. all Foil GP results updated (finally!)... men's Team Sabre also updated (Gold Medal Match set to start @ 3.30 p.m. CET, but they're a bit late with the program...the Bronze Medal match is still running)... Live Streaming here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aNY9gFCcig
  4. yes, you're right...I just forgot to add that... Errgo is no longer a competitive athlete in any weapon...she has to reset her mind before taking any decision about her future and possibily our NF should help her to do it (but I guess that everything's gone with the Rio blowout...she's never been the same anymore after that shameful event)... p.s. I don't know if it's just me, but live scoring and streaming are KO once again... why they still go to China? it's always the same story with them! anbd this year we also have the World Champs there...
  5. and there was only Volpi in quarterfinals (Errigo and Mancini lost their respective round #1 assaults)... women's foil is going through a really deep crisis...and who knows when (if) we're able to get back to the old glory days... among the men, instead, we have Cassarà vs Meinhardt (USA, who defeated Foconi in the round of 16) and Trani (who defeated Garozzo 15-14 in the previous round) vs Kruse (GBR) in the quarterfinals (actually both matches should be over since quite a while, but the Chinese live scoring website is not so "live" and doesn't have the QTRs results yet)... not to mention, the never-working streaming... FIE...

  10. here I am! remember...the "perfect score" is always 0-0...also in the Hockey game... however, they don't play the real "catenaccio" (we, as Italians, have the copyright for that...also in Hockey -remember Bryan Lefley's ITA teams in the early 90s)...they're just realistic...they know they can't play a very open game against the powerhouses and try to take advantage of their qualities... however, they're individually too good to say they play the "Italian style"... p.s. it's "catenaccio"...only 1 "t" in the middle...
  11. Sport Climbing, IFSC Olympic Qualification Event The IFSC Executive Board elected the city that will host the Olympic Qualifying event in 2019 ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Among four strong candidates (Chongqing, Los Angeles, Moscow and Toulouse) the Board chose the French city of Toulouse. The “Federation Francaise de la Montagne et de l’Escalade” (FFME) presented a very detailed dossier, based on its experience in organising international events. A special recognition goes to the other candidates: CFR, CMA and USAC. Full news (in French): https://www.ffme.fr/escalade/article/le-tournoi-de-qualification-olympique-en-france-en-2019.html

  13. earlier Today I watched game #4 of the Western Conference Finals of the NHL (thanks to NHL.tv), the Canoeing World Cup from Szeged (HUN) on the Hungarian TV Channel M4 Sport HD (FTA on satellite) and the 1st semifinal @ the Hockey Worlds in Denmark on the Italian speaking channel of the Swiss TV (RSI-La2 HD)... later tonight I'm going to watch the 2nd semifinals of the Hockey Worlds (once again on RSI-La2 HD) and the English FA Cup final (Football, delayed broadcast on Fox Sports ITA...delayed for me...the TV channel is obviously going live)...
  14. I guess the first one is a simple slalom with addition of times of a man and a woman (or 2+2, it doesn't change anything), meanwhile the second one would be a parallel event (slalom or PGS, TBD) with a format like the current team event in Alpine Skiing... but this is just my interpretation...it could well be something different (like 2 parallel events, one with slalom course and the other with PGS course)...it's difficult to get it right until they explain something more properly... by the way...I'm disgusted by all kind of team and mixed events proposed by the FIS Congress...and I hope they're not gonna be part of the next OG...

  18. and finally the big bout has happened... and Jordan Burroughs won it by the minimum margin (6-5) thanks to a late comeback... Chamizo started on fire and quickly went 4-0 up (the 3rd and 4th point came thanks to one of his wonderful trademark counters after Burroughs grabbed Frank's leg and looked to be in control of the action)... then, when the American seemed to be in a lot of troubles, a stop to clean the mat was required...and after this couple of minutes break, JB started to find his rhythm and scored his first 2 points... at the beginning of the second round, Chamizo started once again better than Burroughs and got his 5th point, but then he clearly gassed out and let the American too many leg grabs, 2 of which led him to score and take the lead with less than a minute to go... Chamizo unfortunately didn't have much left in the tank and actually it was Burroughs to get closer to another couple of points than Frank getting a chance to score again... final notice...the bout was heavily influenced by a very slippery mat...both guys weren't able keep their feet steady enough and this was a pity (and honestly I think it was more a problem for Chamizo and his attempts to counter Burroughs leg grabs)... here you can see the full match for free (even if I don't know how long this video -clearly illegally recorded and shared- is going to stay on YT):
  19. Tonight's the night! in a few hours, the main events of the "Beat The Streets" Wrestling Fest in New York will be on stage... among those, an always interesting USA vs CUB freestyle team match (with a juicy Kyle Snyder vs Reineris Salas Perez in the -97kg class) and, above all, the big challenge: Jordan Burroughs vs Frank Chamizo Marquez (freestyle wrestling, -74kg class)... here are some notes: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6202369-tech-notes-jordan-burroughs-vs-frank-chamizo and here's tonight's full program: https://www.flowrestling.org/events/6143852-2018-beat-the-streets/schedule unfortunately, I only found this Flowrestling website's paid streaming to watch this event (and I'm not gonna give them 12+ dollars for a single exhibition show like this)... I hope tomorrow some free video will be uploaded here and there... p.s. I did notice that there is also some space for the currently suspended (for doping) Togrul Asgarov, which is a shame for such an amazing event...
  20. if things end up like they're standing right now, from tomorrow I'm gonna be watching only Cricket and Boccia for the rest of my life...
  21. is this a joke or what??? c'mon, man! you cannot be serious about that!
  22. don't worry, pal...I got CAN right, but I also had the Czechs winning by 1...
  23. I agree at 100% p.s. with this groups' lineup, Italy are really at risk of missing the qualification...meanwhile group F is a joke (with all respect for ARG and CAN...good for them, in any case)...
  24. Major League Baseball hits the (bad) news once again... Robinson Cano, star player of the Seattle Mariners, gets an 80-game suspension (half a season, the max punishment they can give him for this kind of infraction) for violating the PED (Performance Enhancing Drugs, aka Doping) policy of the MLB... https://www.mlb.com/news/robinson-cano-suspended-80-games/c-276822884
