  1. I wouldn't take for granted that would eventually choose those 3 weight classes if Shi is reasonably healthy, they might take him (in the -73kg) over Li and Tian in the -89kg, where they don't have any chance for Gold and even getting a miserable (for them) bronze might prove very difficult we'll see...
  2. Men's Qualifiers Skaters advancing to the Quarterfinals
  3. I think having male and female separation is enough.
  4. last event in Doha, the men's +109kg class and, except for Lalayan, another really modest competition. won Gold & Silver, thanks to the above mentioned Lalayan (441kg Total, not enough to improve his numbers in the OQR) and Simon Martirosyan (430kg, also far away from his best Total in the OQR and still behind his teammate in that ranking). Bronze went to the Neutral Athlete (originally from ) Eduard Ziaziulin, once again way behind his best Total in the OQR (but he's still in good position to qualify). The only man improving his ranking Today is Eishiro Murakami, who finished in 4th place with a Total of 413kg, which means that now he's the best man from in the OQR, where he climbed from way down the ladder to the 15th place overall, but 12th Nation represented, just 6 and 7 kilos from the 9th and 10th useful places, respectively. That's all for what concerns the GP II in Doha. Next OQTs are the various Continental Championships (all of them in February), before the last chance, the World Cup in at the beginning of April 2024.
  5. Grand Prix II ( Doha) men's +109kg Gold: Varazdat Lalayan (441kg Total) Silver: Simon Martirosyan (430kg Total) Bronze: () Eduard Ziaziulin (418kg Total)
  6. Maurizio Bormolini wins the men's PGS ahead of Edwin Coratti and Benjamin Karl that's all for Today, folks!
  7. victory for Ramona Theresia Hofmeister, 2nd place for Daniela Ulbing and 3rd for Tsubasa Miki in the women's PGS
  8. yesss! all final among the men! Maurizio Bormolini vs Edwin Coratti for the win
  9. Ulbing vs Hofmeister for the win among the women
  10. nooo R-Fisch out by 0.03 vs Benny Karl in the "granny superstars" duel still, 2 men in the semis...good result for us in this first PGS of the season
  11. Caviezel celebrating before crossing the finish line...and losing by 3/100 of a second in the end
  12. OK, the red couse is jinxed now second consecutive win on the blue, but March actually made a bad mistake at some point
  13. wow! Bormolini! he edged out Kosir despite being on the blue course (and with no big mistake by the Slovenian)
  14. It's Val Gardena, the Sasslong, baby! you just can't expect a "usual" race on this course Kilde when Bennett came across the finish line
  15. 4 men in the quarterfinals (and no head-to-head between them, so, potentially, it could be a clean sweep at the end of the day...even if it's highly unlikely) Nadya Ochner, retiring after today's race, is also among the last 8 in the women's race (unfortunately she fell in her QF heat, so she'll end in a place between 5th through 8th). as usual, very unfair courses, with people on the red course winning all the races (unless they make a big mistake) the only snowboarder losing a heat on the red course without making apparent mistakes was Lucia Dalmasso, a pathetic loser that now is our best PGS specialist left
  16. just one remarkable news in the women's +87kg class Mary Anne Theisen Lappen wins Gold with 120-163-283kg, improving her best Total by 6kg and overtaking by 1 kilo her compatriot Sarah Robles in the OQR. Now she's the best American lifter in this class (5th useful place). Duangaksorn Chaidee won Today's Silver with 121-152-273kg, but she didn't improve her best Total in the OQR. Still, she's 4th in the OQR, so, her qualification is definitely not in danger. Also Iuniarra Sipaia, despite the overall Bronze medal in Today's event, didn't improve her best Total in the OQR, but mantained her 9th useful place in that ranking. That's all from the women's competitions in the Grand Prix II in Doha. Later Today, the last event of this tournament, the men's Superheavyweights.
  17. Grand Prix II ( Doha) women's +87kg Gold: Mary Anne Theisen Lappen (283kg Total) Silver: Duangaksorn Chaidee (273kg Total) Bronze: Iuniarra Sipaia (262kg Total)
  18. IWF and SPORTFIVE renovate partnership for 2024-2028 The IWF and SPORTFIVE have renovated their partnership for the Olympic cycle 2024-2028, thus re-appointing the German-based company as the exclusive media rights agency on a global basis. Under this agreement, SPORTFIVE will be responsible for handling the media international rights (outside the Host Country) for the IWF World Championships, IWF World Cups, and IWF World Junior Championships during this period. Following the recent IWF Executive Board meeting in Doha, where the IWF Grand Prix II is taking place until December 14, 4 major competitions are already part of this package: in 2024, the IWF World Championships in Manama, in 2025, the IWF World Championships in Forde and the IWF World Junior Championships in Tashkent, and in 2026 the IWF World Championships in Ningbo. SPORTFIVE has been firstly appointed by the IWF as exclusive media rights partner for the period 2022-2024.
  19. NON-Olympic action in the forelast day of the Grand Prix II in Doha and man, Today's events were really modest. in the women's -87kg class, Hripsime Khurshudyan won Gold with a 106-126-232kg line, which wouldn't have been enough for a medal in the -59kg class Anamjan Rustamova won Silver lifting just 1 kilo less in Total than the Armenian, while a further kilo down the score of the girl from , Tatem Hakobyan earned Bronze. obviously, no score is good enough to be taken into consideration for the OQR. in the men's -109kg class, Dadash Dadashbayli won Gold with a Total of 388kg. But the biggest achievement of the day, though, was Taniela Rainibogi’s show of strength in the men’s 109kg. In making six-from-six for a huge career best of 170-210-380kg, Rainibogi became the first male lifter from to win a medal at a global competition. There have been medals in Oceania and Commonwealth events, but none in a competition open to the world. Rainibogi improved his best snatch by 5kg, C&J by 18kg and total by 23kg and finished 3rd behind Dadashbayli and Bekdoolot Rasulbekov, who won C&J gold with a career-best lift of 219kg and Silver on Total with 381kg. Also in this case, however, no score is even close to climb in the top 25 of the OQR. Tomorrow the GP II ends with the Superheavyweights, both in the women and men's categories.
  20. so, for the 2nd time ever (previously, 2018/2019 season), in the last 4 we have 4 teams coming from 4 different Nations (Leagues), the 4 best European leagues (KHL apart, but they never participated to the CHL) now it looks a true Champions League
