emozioni forti negli ultimi giorni... detto e ridetto dei mondiali di Judo (terminati mercoledì), ecco che già siamo nel pieno marasma dei tornei iridati di Tiro a segno e di Ciclismo su Pista. di questi ultimi, ovviamente, non si può non sottolineare l'impresa mostruosa di Filippo Ganna nell'Inseguimento Individuale maschile, ma anche il trionfo delle ragazze dell'Inseguimento a Squadre (in attesa che Zoe Backsted riporti la GBR su un altro pianeta, inavvicinabile ai comuni mortali). abbastanza deludenti invece gli argenti del quartetto maschile e anche di Rachele Barbieri nella Corsa ad Eliminazione. molto deludenti i piazzamenti lontano dal podio di Bianchi (KM da Fermo maschile), Scartezzini (mai in gara nella Corsa a Punti maschile e, soprattutto, il floppone di Elisa Balsamo nell'Omnium femminile, in giornata sciagurata sin dalla prima prova...col senno di poi, forse la Barbieri, clamorosa vincitrice dell'Europeo questa estate, sarebbe stata più efficace in questa disciplina -imho Balsamo e Paternoster dovrebbero dimenticare le prove di gruppo in pista...hanno troppi traumi alle spalle che più o meno inconsciamente le bloccano e le rendono non competitive). nel Tiro a Segno, invece, debutto iridato senior da urlo per Danilo Dennis Sollazzo nella carabina ad aria compressa. Il giovane azzurro, infatti, si porta a casa un argento che era quasi oro e una preziosissima carta olimpica. al contrario, disastro totale al femminile, con in particolare Sofia Ceccarello completamente persa, che probabilmente ancora paga (e chissà per quanto lo farà) il trauma psicologico rappresentato da quell'ultimo, fatale colpo della qualificazione della gara Olimpica di Tokyo. il tutto, in attesa delle gare di Pistola ad Aria Compressa di oggi e delle altre discipline olimpiche nei prossimi giorni. p.s. non scrivo nulla sul Volley femminile, altrimenti rischio la blasfemia

Athletics, men's 20km Race Walk... Robert Korzeniowski is most likely the best specialist ever, quite an easy pick. Athletics, women's Discus Throw...a lot of big names here, but since the past ages are not so trustable, I choose the most recent outstanding specialist, Sandra Perkovic. Swimming, women's 200m Breaststroke...here it can only be Rebecca Soni, the only woman to repeat herself over the distance. Artistic Gymnastics, men's pommel Horse...very difficult choice, with at least 4 or 5 truly deserving guys...here I'm going quite behind in years, Miroslav Cerar is my choice. Taekwondo, women's Middleweights (-67kg)...all of the candidates don't get me too excited, so I go with the only double Gold medallist, Hwang Kyung-seon.

I'm completely lost between the Shooting, Judo and Track Cycling Worlds + the NPB and MLB Baseball playoffs and the beginning of the NHL season... I just feel more tired than during the Olympic Games...really too many things to follow and too little time to do it (luckily, I'm getting old which means I'm starting to suffer from insomnia and sometimes it happens that I wake up at 4.30 a.m. to watch live baseball and/or hockey from the US West Coast leaving more times for the rest during the day)...

Filippo!!! OMG!!! it took me an hour an a couple of really disappointing results from Bianchi in the men's KM time trial and Balsamo in the women's Omnium to calm my heart rate down... I didn't think he could do it tonight...now he's really the absolute king of the track in the endurance disciplines.

and, as expected, it's a safe Gold & Silver for Italy in the men's Individual Pursuit... Jonathan Milan, infact, rode a good second half of his 4kms and clocked a pretty good 4.03.0 to end up in second place bhind his teammate Ganna. Not expecting a close final, though...there are still 2.5 secs between the two...and Ganna is likely to have better recovery skills... however, this compensate at least the awful start by Elisa Balsamo in the Omnium (only 12th in the Scatch race, which should have been one of her forte), whose medal chances are already heavily compromised at this point.

what a final match between Weisz and 16-year young Huang day 1 of the Olympic disciplines was just amazing...I hope we have some more left...
