  1. OMG!!! lots of surprising results in day #6 so far... and very, very disappointing outcome for Italy, once again for lack of the right attitude on the mat... p.s. my prediction contest has definitively gone fishing after today...
  2. 3. and we're down to the last game of the regular season also in the Korean KBO. most things are already decided, but tomorrow (11.30 a.m. CET) KT Wiz is host to the LG Twins and play for the 3rd spot in the final ranking, which would mean for them the chance to step up directly to the 2nd round of playoffs. the KBO in fact has a ladder format for their PO, different from all the other main leagues around the world. It works like this: in round #1, the 5th ranked team hosts the 4th (ranked), the winner advances to the 2nd round, where they're host ot the 3rd ranked team. both series are normally best-of-3, with all the games played on the field of the better ranked team. the winner of round #2 advances to round #3, where they meet the 2nd ranked team of the RS (normally in a best-of-5 series with the better ranked team having the home field advantage). the winner of round #3 finally advances to the Korean Series to meet the best ranked team of the RS (who obviously have the home field advantage) in a best-of-7 series. as I wrote, most things are already known: the defending Korean Series champions, Doosan Bears from Seoul, are surprisingly not only out of the playoff race, but they ended up in 9th place out of 10 teams... the RS was won by the SSG Landers, formerly known as the Wyverns, from Incheon (last season they were at the bottom of the ranking, really another big turnaround), who therefore are already qualified to the 2022 Korean Series. Second are the LG Twins Seoul, which means that they are aready safe in the 3rd round of the playoffs. the only teams still fighting for a better place in the final standing are the KT Wiz Suwon, currently 3rd with half game advantage, and the Kiwoom Heroes Seoul, currently 4th in the standings and with all of their games already played. Tomorrow, KT Wiz however, still need to win against LG Twins to save their current 3rd spot because the Heroes have the tie-breaker (head-to-head games in RS) in their favor. A loss tomorrow would revert the standing position between KT Wiz and Kiwoom Heroes and therefore would change the playoffs ladder. the 5th and last team making the post-season are the KIA Tigers Gwangju, which means that they are going to play the 1st playoffs round and they're gonna do it on the road. my 2 cents...LG Twins are still the favourites to win it all, but the Korean baseball is always full of upsets and surprises with unpredictable games. 5. Mixed Team Skeet Gold: Great Britain 1 (Amber Hill & Ben Llewellin) Silver: Italy 1 (Diana Bacosi & Gabriele Rossetti) Bronze: France 1 (Lucie Anastassiou & Eric Delaunay) and Kazakhstan 2 (Assem Orynbay & Eduard Yechshenko)
  7. Italy 1 vs Great Britain 1 is the Gold Medal match in the Mixed Team Skeet Kazakhstan 2 vs Great Britain 2 and USA 2 vs France 1 are the Bronze Medal matches. the finals should start in a few minutes...
  8. when you play with fire...sooner or later you'll get burnt! Parlati was living dangerously all day long, but against the hometown hero he persevered in his stupid attitude and paid the prize for that, losing by 3 "shido" (this time, all of them well deserved) without doing absolutely nothing. and the Italian drought among the men at the Judo Worlds continues...believe it or not, we have never won a single male world gold medal and this year we'll not win any once again
  9. Day #5 Women's -70kg Gold: Barbara Matic Silver: Lara Cvjetko Bronze: Saki Niizoe & Sanne Van Dijke Men's -90kg Gold: Davlat Bobonov Silver: Christian Parlati Bronze: Luka Maisuradze & Lasha Bekauri
  10. on the men's side, Parlati has lived dangerously all day long, but it paid off so far. a bit surprisingly, no Georgian has made the final...they had 2 in the semis, but both of them let their opponent upset them. good that finally the Home team is represented at least in one gold medal match...but I hope they stop at silver, of course...
  11. great result for your team...but at the same time, it's a pity that one of the two girls won't be able to compete in Paris (and probably it's too late for any of them to try and change weight class and qualify for the next Olympics, even if I think Cvjetko has room to go up in the -78kg class in the next Olympic cycle).
  12. Day #5 Today's medal matches are: Women's -70kg Bronze Medal match #1: Miriam Butkereit vs Saki Niizoe Bronze Medal match #2: Sanne Van Dijke vs Shiho Tanaka Gold Medal match: Barbara Matic vs Lara Cvjetko Men's -90kg Bronze Medal match #1: Ivan Felipe Silva Morales vs Luka Maisuradze Bronze Medal match #2: Tristani Mosakhlishvili vs Lasha Bekauri Gold Medal match: Christian Parlati vs Davlat Bobonov
  14. could have gone better... Teltsidou went out so early that she couldn't even breathe the athmosphere of a world championship...meanwhile Tselidis won a couple of matches, then he had very favourable conditions in round #3...a kind of judo that makes impossible to make their own judo to the opponents, the super anti-Italian Mongolian ref that allowed him almost anything penalizing only Parlati and a true idiot (but with immense talent) like the young Italian against... but this time talent beat ref + the stupid attitude of our guy (who repeated himself even with more emphasis in the quarterfinals, when he defeated the Brazilian guy after having basically already lost -and again despite that infamous ref). more in general, also today I've already seen a lot of infamous calls by the refs, especially they're not calling at all tons of false attacks, giving away shido as if it rains to the guys victim of all those false attacks...they're just killing the show...
  15. Day #4 Women's -63kg Gold: Megumi Horikawa Silver: Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard Bronze: Barbara Timo & Manon Deketer Men's -81kg Gold: Tato Grigalashvili Silver: Matthias Casse Bronze: Takanori Nakase & Shamil Borchashvili
  16. Men's Individual Skeet Gold: Azmy Mehelba Silver: Vincent Hancock Bronze: Rashid Saleh Al-Athba Olympic Quota (to the NOCs, NOT to the Shooters): Azmy Mehelba, Vincent Hancock, Rashid Saleh Al-Athba, Stefan Nilsson
  17. Men's Individual Skeet Ranking Match #1, Results 1. Vincent Hancock, 27 (Q) 2. Stefan Nilsson, 26 (Q) 3. Radek Prokop, 25 4. Gabriele Rossetti, 17 Ranking Match #2, Results 1. Azmy Mehelba, 28 (Q) 2. Rashid Saleh Al-Athba, 28 (Q) 3. Christian Elliot, 27 4. Eric Delaunay, 17
  18. Women's Individual Skeet Gold: Diana Bacosi Silver: Amber Hill Bronze: Samantha Simonton Olympic Quota (to the NOCs, NOT to the Shooters): Diana Bacosi, Samantha Simonton, Vanesa Hockova, Iryna Malovichko
  19. Women's Individual Skeet Ranking Match #2, Results Diana Bacosi, 28 (Q) Vanesa Hockova, 27 (Q) Iryna Malovichko, 25 Lucie Anastassiou, 16
  20. yes, that's the rule. the two 3rd ranked shooters in the ranking matches are the 5th and 6th in the final standing based on the ranking matches scores -only if they're still tied, the ranking of the qualification stage is the next criteria to separate those 2.
  21. Women's Individual Skeet Ranking Match #1, Results 1. Amber Hill, 27 (Q) 2. Samantha Simonton, 27 (Q) 3. Austen Jewell Smith, 24 4. Danka Bartekova, 16
  22. now it's mathematical...all the top 3 of the ranking match #2 will get a quota place...
  23. Bartekova out! she won't get the Olympic quota, meanwhile will certainly get one...
  24. Men's Individual Skeet Qualifications, Final Results (Top 8 advance to the Ranking Matches) 1. Stefan Nilsson, 125 2. Christian Elliott, 124 3. Vincent Hancock, 123 + 32 4. Eric Delaunay, 123 + 31 5. Radek Prokop, 123 + 6 6. Azmy Mehelba, 122 + 22 7. Gabriele Rossetti, 122 + 21 8. Rashid Saleh Al-Athba, 122 + 0
  25. not necessarily...if Bartekova ends up in 4th place, she's no better than 7th and therefore she doesn't get the quota place. USA also are not mathematically safe, but they need an unlucky combination to lose their quota (Hill and Bartekova must beat both of their girls in the ranking match and the 3rd ranked in the other match must have a better score than the best of the Americans).
