  1. First gold medal ever for Sweden!
  2. I don't understand trampoline. Like, at all. It's confusing and most scores make little sense to me. But one thing is for sure: Russians are overscored in any gymnastics discipline.
  3. Fernando finished fourth, which is great. Maybe in a few years he will be awarded a medal.
  4. That was exciting! Maybe Fernando was a bit "conservative" in snatch... I mean, he equaled his Pan American record, so conservative is not a very good word, but why not trying to break it? 201 kg should have been his second attempt and 204 kg his third attempt. But I'm okay with the results. We can't expect much from him. It's nice to watch this sport, I have to admit.
  5. I don't expect much from Fernando, so it will be nice to measure the competition. When I read it out loud, it sounds awful, I know.
  6. Funny thing is that Albegov is somewhat famous in... erm... gay "communities". There are many pictures of him on Tumblr, if you know what I mean. Or so I was told.
  7. How long until the men's competition starts? I will watch this sport for the first time today, so I'm excited. I've seen videos here and there, but following a live competition will be the fist time.
  8. Medals for Argentina and Mexico! What a year for gymnastics in Latin America! Three World Championships medals for Mexico (artistic, aerobics and trampoline), one for Brazil (artistic) and one for Argentina (trampoline). If only Colombia had won a medal, this would have been the perfect year for us. But I'm quite happy, alright! I would never have dreamed Latin America would do so well this year! AMAZING!
  9. Argentina qualified in fourth for the men's double mini final! Vamos, América Latina!
  10. This is probably Mexico's best year ever in gymnastics: one bronze medal at the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships, one bronze medal at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, fourth place at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup and now a gymnast reaches the semi-finals at the Trampoline World Championships. I'm really impressed!
  11. He finished fourth in snatch, and for a country with no medals in this sport, big or small, any medal would give him a lot of headlines. Of course a total medal would be amazing, but even a small medal would be great for him by now. His entry weight is 440 kg, I think, but I'm not sure he was able to lift this much this year.
  12. I don't really follow this sport because, well, Brazil sucks in weightlifting. But Fernando Reis will compete in the +109 kg division and he recently gave an interview where he said he had the third best result this year and he was hopeful for a medal here (he finished fourth last year). Does he have any chance even for a small medal? Things can change a lot over the course of one year in this sport, so... Just curious.
  13. Where can I find the results for the South American Championships? Nothing on Consanat's website, or the Peruvian Federation, or on Wikipedia...
  14. No gold medals for Japan. Who would expect that?
  15. Finally an individual medal for Mikulak! He's the unluckiest gymnast I have ever seen (Zachari Hrimeche is quite unlucky as well) so it's good that he finally had some luck.
  16. Zondelrland had a 0.5 deduction in a late pirouette, unfortunately. I think Uchimura will take gold here.
  17. Srbic's routine is not very intelligent. Only four releases count, and he performs five releases. I'm sure he performs one of the releases so he can earn the connection value, but we're talking about 0.1-0.3 in deductions (or more) so he can get 0.1 in a connection. It makes no sense.
  18. Flávia lost the bronze medal because of the penalty of stepping outside of the floor. Unbelievable! She got it right three times in a row and now she had her worst performance in the whole championships. I'm a bit sad but that's okay.
  19. Poor Jossimar. I wanted him to win a medal so bad. Oh, well...
  20. This is the straddled position. She usually lands on her feet and then connects an element performed in straddled position, so she can earn one more tenth, usually. This is what some fans call "code whoring", i.e., using what is allowed in the code of points to the fullest to earn more points even if the element is seemingly unnecessary and not pleasing to the eye. Another common form of code whoring is using a static jump after landings on floor, or a series of one-arm pirouettes on the uneven, even though the elements look the same (90% of the female Chinese gymnasts do this).
  21. What? Her front aerial punch front sommersault is insane. Her ring leaps are perfect, and she cannot see the beam when she lands them what makes it more difficult to perform. The flow of the routine is just superb. Her difficulty score (6.3) is the highest among all of the competitors. What are you talking about?
  22. I'm not really a fan of Wevers, but Tingting has my favorite routine in this final. If she doesn't nail it, I'll be bummed. It would be nice to see Canada with a gold medal, though.
  23. Well, I'd say. Tingting and Wevers are the clear favorites here. But Padurariu on the podium is really exciting.
